Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

We rescued a boxer named Stryker & he has become so much a part of our family & loves us so much that I call him my stalker because he follows me & the kids EVERYWHERE! Sometimes he walks so close to me that he steps on the back of my flip-flop when I am walking…the kids think it is so funny to see Stryker trip me!

I’d have my 1 yr old beagle girl painted. She failed obedience school (that beagle nose keeps getting the best of her!) but she is the sweetest and always up for a good cuddle. My husband and I got married a year ago, and she was a wedding gift from my parents- she definitely completes our family!

    PAINT MY PET!

We have a cavalier named “Hattie” and I wanted her all my life honestly. When she finally came into my arms I melted into 1,000 pieces and have been melted ever since. I call her our four legged fur baby. We are professional photographers so we have a lot of photos but one thing I cant do is paint one of her. It would be so special to have that.

Something that makes Hattie special is that she HATES when we cook. Oddly enough if there is any heat coming from our kitchen she is hiding behind something. I would never hang her painting in the kitchen. Promise.

Her name is Smokey and she is our baby– a 3-year-old mutt that we got as a puppy from a shelter in rural Mississippi. Her abundant energy, small size, and thick frame make her look like a puppy eternally, and we’re just fine with that :)

PAINT MY PET! Our three year old small black cat has our family laughing and loving. She closely followed the unofficial adoption of neighborhood cat (19 and ill) that adopted us and we fell in love with; she became ill with a brain tumor and after much doctoring, passed. We call both “Bad Hat” (1 & 2) after the Madeline book series — one of the characters Pepito. Madeline named him Bad Hat because of his naughtiness. We would love a picture of Bad Hat teasing our chinchilla — peering into his large condo, reminding us of her curiosity and jealousy of any other creature receiving attention.

I’d have my corgi, Bandit, painted.

One thing that makes him weird, or actually spoiled, is that when he gets a tummy rub or back scratch and you stop, he’ll make two small huffs for you to start again. If you don’t, he’ll make a loud bark and give you a glare until you do.

    PAINT MY PET!

I’d love to have a painting of our little puppy, Casey. We adopted him from an animal rescue here in Virginia when he was 10 weeks old. Four days after we brought him home he got very sick. It turned out our little love had parvo. He spent 10 days in isolation at the emergency vet before we were able to bring him back home. Six months later, little Casey is doing great. We feel so grateful he’s healthy now. His current motto is, “If it fits in my mouth, it goes in my mouth.” Our sock drawer may never recover.
