Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

I’d love my Borzoi, Rory, painted. She is a beauty! She is also silent: I’ve only heard her bark one time at some beagles. That’s it!

PAINT MY PET (PLEASE)!!! My black lab makes me laugh every morning when we get back from our walk. As he waits to be unhooked from his leash in the mudroom, I tell him to go yell at dad (my fiancé) if his breakfast isn’t ready. Once unhooked, he tears around the corners in the house until he gets to the kitchen. If his food isn’t ready and on the floor for him, he barks at my fiancé. It’s one of the things about him that makes us both smile :)

    Paint my pet!

I have little doggies: Zelda (a Jackapoo) and Roscoe (a Hunt terrier). I dont know how I could pick one or the other. I think it would come down to a coin toss if I had to pick. Zelda is a little lady and the boss around the house. Roscoe is all boy and likes to show his teeth even though he is the scare-dy cat of the two.

Paint my pet! I have a 9-year-old shih tzu named Buddy. He belonged to my grandparents but came to live with me and my husband 3 years ago when they moved into a nursing home. They’ve since passed away, and I love having him here as a daily connection to them :) Buddy can’t bark. He tries so hard, and sometimes he’ll get one out (or sometimes he’ll fall over from all the the effort! Poor guy!) So his main method of communication is sneezing, which is pretty funny. He’s the sneeziest dog I’ve ever known and probably my favorite, but don’t tell that to my childhood lhasa apso ;)

The rescue gal took Jedi and his litter mates on off-leash hikes daily and thus, he’s an incredible hiker – so adventurous and so loyal. PAINT MY PET. Would love this for my Aussie mix, Malasha, who turned 10 this year. My hubby and I are celebrating 10 years with her this week (We brought her home from the ASPCA Oct 4, 2002). We’re especially happy to celebrate this milestone with her as she was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 4. We were told by the vet at the time that her cluster seizures were so bad that we’d be lucky to see her to her 6th birthday. Happy to report that she’s been seizure-free since 2008 and at a decade old, she still growls at us if we don’t take her for a long walk after dinner!

We wpuld have our beloved Fabrizio painted. The best part about Fabrizio, besides his hundreds of nicknames, is his teeth. He has a wicked underbite so his bottom teeth stick out. All the time. We’re constantly asked whether we are going to “fix them.” Obviously no as they’re his cutest characteristic, but seriously, do people get their dog braces?! We’ve been asked so many times we think it must be a thing!

I would love to have a painting done of my Chihuahua Minnie. We adopted her in August and she is such a funny little dog. Please paint my baby, Mr. Rags. He is the world’s best napper. He likes his space, but always lays on me when I’m not feeling well. He knows I can’t move if he lays his little head on me and I need to sit still to get well. He took 3 1/2 years to find his forever family, but he couldn’t be more ours than if I’d given birth to him. We’re about to have our first human baby and our fur baby could use some big art to compete with all the baby pictures that are coming. As my mom says of her granddoggy, “He has such a cute little face.”
