Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

PAINT MY PET! I have one calico cat named Mia. She is the sweetest, gentlest pet I have ever had. One thing that makes her adorable is that she sits on my dresser and meows at me if I start to oversleep.

I would have my beautiful pup Kona painted. She is super gorgeous! Every night while I’m hanging out on the couch, she lays beside me with her head on my leg. That’s one of the things that makes her so lovable!

PAINT MY PET!!! I would have my cat Gizmo painted. Gizmo is the most unique lovable cat. He acts like a dog – he sits at the front door waiting for us to get home. As soon as he hears the car lock/beep he runs to get by the door. He will meow back at you when you talk to him and he loves when we cook chicken (he always begs for some). He purrs loudly and is so sweet and lovable!

It would be eveb better if I didn’t have to pay for it ;) my husband and I rescued her in January and while I had forgotten how much dog ownership changes your life, she has filled ours with such joy and I can’t wait to get home every day and see her wiggle butt.

PAINT MY PET! I’d probably need both my dog, Dixie (German shorthair/lab mix) and my cat, Mr. Boots, since they match (both have black & white fur). Plus Mr.’s feelings would get hurt if he weren’t a part of the painting.

I would want my dog Felix painted. When I was 10 years old, my mom finally gave into my pleading for a dog and we brought Felix home. Almost 17 years later, Felix passed away. Even though he was almost 17, it broke my heart. Felix was grouchy, anxious, and antisocial, and I loved that guy so, so much.

    PAINT MY PET

We have two dogs, and I don’t think I could pick just one, as they are both so special to us, it would have to be both of them. Babe is our 10 year old lab mix. She is the sweetest, most devoted, scared of life dog ever. As she ages, she’s developed gas issues. Often, she is just laying on the floor, and she will fart, which will scare the living daylight out of her and sen her flying across the room. Les is our rambunctious 2 year old beagle/Airedale mix. He is just so darn cute and loveable, though he is still learning the ways of the family, which sometimes leads to problems. He has a bit of a Napoleon complex, he thinks he can prevent Babe from going up or down the stairs even though she’s twice his size. She shows him otherwise, which is sometimes funny to watch their stairway face offs!

I’d have my awesome Boston Terrier, Benjamin Franklin (AKA Frankie), painted. Frankie is known for his amusing facial expressions, the hilarious sounds he makes (he snores like a 300 lb man!) and his ability to make total strangers smile on the street, subway, streetcar, bus, etc.

He also has a blog! Check it out: http://frankiethebostonterrier.tumblr.com/

PAINT MY PET! I’d love to have my gecko Rexie painted! We already have portraits done of our two cats but none of our scaley friend. The fact that she changes colours, sticks to her tank and hangs upside down and has to no eyelids makes her such a fun and interesting pet to have around.

I’d love a portrait of my silly Boxer, Roscoe. He was adopted a little over three years ago from a shelter in Georgia. He can be a total pain in the but, but is so damn lovable I don’t know what we’d do without him. He’s unique because whoever owned him before tried to crop his ears, but must have done it wrong so now he has these silly cropped ears that curl in instead of standing straight up. When he’s tired they fold out flat like little triangles and he looks like Yoda. He’s the best.
