Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

Paint my pet! I’d get our dog Ellie painted. One of the cutest things she does is try to diffuse tension (and by that, I mean my husband yelling at the TV during football season) by climbing into our laps and giving us “hugs” — it’s weird but adorable!

I LOVE THIS ARTIST!!! I would love to have her paint my mama weimeraner (she had a litter of 9 babies!) Her name is Ada, she’s 8 yrs. old and she is like one of my children for sure. She is the smartest dog I’ve ever known, she’s even got ESP, she knows when we are thinking about going somewhere before we ever make a move or say anything.
Once my son & his girlfriend came over for a spaghetti supper and afterward when I walked outside to say goodbye, Ada very nice and neatly took the pot of pasta off the stove and set it on the tile floor and proceeded to lick the pot clean. Thank goodness I had already put the tomato sauce in the fridge, that would have been something else!

Paint my Pet! This would be awesome! For my husband’s job we have had to just for a year relocate all the way to the other side of the world, and we had to leave our aging dog with my MIL. Sadly, our dog’s health is declining rapidly and we don’t expect her to live much longer. My husband would love to have a painting like this to remember her by. She was his dog before I even met him.

Paint my pet!! Please please please!! Our Airedale Terrier girl, Moneypenny is the LOVE our life. She looks like a mix of Alf, a muppet and ZZ Top (because she has a 4″ long beard). My heart grew instantly the moment I saw her (5 years ago this December) and I love this fur face more than I ever thought I would — my husband I both said our absolute most favorite thing that has happened to us in the last 5 years of our marriage is this girl. I’m with her all day everyday and I love every minute of it, even when she barks during a conference call. She’s my intern, my constant companion, my sous chef, my protector, and extreme snuggler — I am so lucky that she is mine.

PAINT MY PET! We have two dogs in our home-Sayge and Ruby. They are the apple of our eyes and seriously our 4 legged daughters. What is special about them is that Sayge is Ruby’s Mom. We birthed Ruby ourselves and she had some complications. Once the pups were ready for a new home we just could NOT let her go.

PAINT MY PET! My pet parrot, Marussya (black-headed caique), is so much fun! She is the first one I usually greet when I come home because otherwise she will be screaming like crazy for attention. Also she is our guard bird: everytime she sees somebody outside of the window she makes this special sound. So this is really like bird+dog combination. Such a goofball!

PAINT MY PET!! I couldn’t even begin to explain how much my husband and I love our 90 pound Airedale Dexter. (Yes he’s named after the serial killer) But just to show you how stinking cute and loveable he is, I’ll tell you about the time I took the day off to just relax and then ended up teaching him how to play hide n’ seek with me! He loves playing it around the house with the both of us now and we joke about how some day it just might save our life if we’re ever trapped somewhere. “Come find me!” (and not to mention pick me!)

My sweet girl Molly is simply the best dog in the entire world (at least to me). She accompanies me on long-runs (she’s been 10 miles! at the approval of the vet, of course) and LOVES to play fetch. Her cutest quirk: when going after a ball in the water, she’ll swim about half-way out and then do a tight swim-circle before straightening back out to fetch the ball. She, like me, has just a touch of OCD.

She extra special because we are convinced she is part One thing that makes her extra special are her expressions and mannerisms, sometimes they are so human-like! We joke that she probably sits at the table using a fork to eat her food when we’re not home. She’s definitely part of the family!
