Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. PAINT MY PET! Ross is our loveable little pit bull that we adopted almost a year ago! We have a love/hate relationship with his “zoomies”. Zoomies are when Ross will run crazy through the house because he knows we are getting ready to go to bed and he’s not ready to go to sleep. He will ping from the front of the house to the back even including a trip up and down the basement stairs. He’s a weirdo but that’s why we love him!

I would have a painting made of our dog, Brian. Brian has taken over as the king of the house…. so much so, he now sleeps in our bed, under the covers. Every night he will nudge at the top of the covers. Then burrows himself down by our feet. He will sleep there until our alarms go off in the morning.

I would want to make sure we caught a shot of our big yellow lab, Burnie’s, ‘hooked lip’ face; he gets it whenever you surprise him with something random like uttering of one of his favourite words, “cookie” or “snuggle”, as he tries to sit up and look all attentive and pulls his mouth into position, he always seems to get one or both of his front lips stuck on one of his canines.

PAINT MY PET!! My fiance and I rescued two senior (ages 10 and 12) Italian Greyhounds from a shelter last year: Kobi and Clara. Kobi favorite place in the whole house is our bed. He runs through the house when it is time to go to bed and grumbles when he has to get out. Clara started out shy, but now she is super outgoing and loves to explore in our backyard. we love them!

I’d get our mutt Lucy-Dog painted. If you’ve seen Where The Wild Things Are, we like to refer to our family as a pile because when my wife, 45 lb Lucy and I go to bed we sleep in a big piled mess.
She growls when she’s happy and howls when she’s excited to see you. It freaks people out, but it’s adorable. So I howl back. Which coincidentally freaks them out more.
…now that I think about it I don’t think our neighbors like us very much!
