Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)

PAINT MY PET! My dog Caspian is SUCH weirdo, but my favorite quirk is how, when he’s particularly excited, he leaps straight into the air. All 85 pounds of him. He actually has pretty good ups!

PAINT MY PET! Ok, so we don’t have a dog…but we do have a horse! His name is Rootbeer and he loves to act like he’s royalty. When he gets turned out he runs to this one spot in the field where he stands regally for all the cars driving by to see…

PAINT MY PET! Ross is our loveable little pit bull that we adopted almost a year ago! We have a love/hate relationship with his “zoomies”. Zoomies are when Ross will run crazy through the house because he knows we are getting ready to go to bed and he’s not ready to go to sleep. He will ping from the front of the house to the back even including a trip up and down the basement stairs. He’s a weirdo but that’s why we love him!

Paint my pet! My sheltie Luckie is my heart. My kids are so jealous of her because they are convinced that she’s my favorite “kid”. I joke that as a kid, I thought that my mom favored our collie over us. And now I know the real truth. She did. Haha!

    PAINT MY PET!”

I would have a painting made of our dog, Brian. Brian has taken over as the king of the house…. so much so, he now sleeps in our bed, under the covers. Every night he will nudge at the top of the covers. Then burrows himself down by our feet. He will sleep there until our alarms go off in the morning.

PAINT MY PET! Because he is freakin’ adorable.

I would want to make sure we caught a shot of our big yellow lab, Burnie’s, ‘hooked lip’ face; he gets it whenever you surprise him with something random like uttering of one of his favourite words, “cookie” or “snuggle”, as he tries to sit up and look all attentive and pulls his mouth into position, he always seems to get one or both of his front lips stuck on one of his canines.

I would love a painting of my pug, Frank. What makes him special? Well… he’s a pug. His smushy face is adorable, he snores, his little curly tail, and his tap dancing he does when he thinks he’s getting a treat!

Keira is our 3 1/2 yr old German Shepherd. She is quite the attention hog! Whenever she see’s our suitcases out to pack for a trip, she starts limping. Ha! If you turn your focus back on her, (i.e. playing fetch) she is instantly cured. She certainly has quite the personality, but we love her so much!

PAINT MY PET!! My fiance and I rescued two senior (ages 10 and 12) Italian Greyhounds from a shelter last year: Kobi and Clara. Kobi favorite place in the whole house is our bed. He runs through the house when it is time to go to bed and grumbles when he has to get out. Clara started out shy, but now she is super outgoing and loves to explore in our backyard. we love them!

    Dude! PAINT MY PET!

I’d get our mutt Lucy-Dog painted. If you’ve seen Where The Wild Things Are, we like to refer to our family as a pile because when my wife, 45 lb Lucy and I go to bed we sleep in a big piled mess.

She growls when she’s happy and howls when she’s excited to see you. It freaks people out, but it’s adorable. So I howl back. Which coincidentally freaks them out more.

…now that I think about it I don’t think our neighbors like us very much!
