Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

PAINT MY PET! My dog Halle (born on Halloween), is precious to me. She was hit by a car when she was only a few months old, and I nursed her through recovery. She has a little hitch in her giddy’up, but does great otherwise.

PAINT MY PET! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have my Cardigan Welsh Corgi painted by Lesli since my boyfriend and I bought our first house (YAY!) and need some great art! Wallace is one of the hammiest dogs you could ever meet, he always does a “sit pretty” for a treat! I love this dog =P

Paint my pet! My dog Shelby is one of those pets that we will never forgot…not necessarily for good reasons either! She is unbelievably sweet, but she is also insanely active and she has a penchant for eating cash! We love her anyway though.

Scooby is my childhood dog and she still lives with my mom. The entire neighborhood loves her. In fact, the next door neighbors keep a squeaky toy under their couch for when she visits (which is quite frequently, I think they have dog treats, too!) She loves chasing the water from the hose, watching dogs on TV and getting caught in the rain… well, maybe not that last part. :)

PAINT MY PET!!! My rescue lab Daisy, is the sweetest lab mix ever. She is nine years old now and still cracks me up. She has the most expressive eyes, when our other dog (the pekingese) does something silly, she looks at me like, really? Or she will talk to me and try to tell me what the kids are doing in her doggy way…such a sweetheart.

PAINT MY PET!  I would love a picture of my 10 yr old German Shepard/Akita mix, Cricket. I love how she is around my 21 month old daughter. They are never without eachother. Even though she has cataracts in both eyes she doesn’t let it stop her from playing/protecting and loving with her favorite human.

PAINT MY PET! I’d love to have a painting of my sweetie Silver Belle. She is a beagle mastiff mix and is just as special as she sounds. She keeps us on our toes by always being able to escape any and every room, yard, or crate we have her in! She is super jealous that her big bro Bocephus has a decoupaged portrait hanging on the wall, but Mommy just hasn’t had time to do some Bellalicious artwork, yet!

PAINT MY PET, please! My cat Stella is the little highlight of my life. Living in the city and working crazy hours prevents me from being able to own a dog. But Stella is the perfect companion because she thinks she is a dog! She meets me at the door every time I get home, and howls when I leave. Adorable to me, but maybe not so much to my neighbors….

PAINT MY PET! My lost my beloved Bailey at 7 1/2 years in July. She was my first pet of my very own that I bought a few years after graduating college and she was my very best friend. My house is empty without her – a void that just cannot be filled. At 7 1/2 she was still as puppy-like as she was at 6 months….and i will always remember that she was tossing her favorite squeaky toy moments before she took her last breaths (heart failure). A portrait of her would be another way to keep her memory alive – not that she needs much help because i think of her every day.

PAINT MY PET! I would have our little puggle, Remmington, painted. He is such a sweet dog with a great personality! He loves tummy rubs, ice cubes, baths, and jogs! Recently he has had some trouble with… well … pretty bad gas. We’be started to feed him cottage cheese (just a tablespoon a day) and it has solved his gas issues. However now he ALWAYS begs for cottage cheese!

I’d love to have a painting of my dachshund…he’s all-around cute (duh) but is especially adorable when he gets his upper lip stuck on one of his teeth–it never fails to make me laugh. For his sake though, I’d pick a photo of him where he looked a little less ridiculous for the painting ;-)

PAINT MY PET! Now, I’m not the world’s biggest dog lover (the most I can say is I prefer them to cats)… but my husband absolutely adores them. Actually he’s studying to be a veterinarian. Anyway, if I won, I’d have a picture painted of our Yorkie when she was a puppy and would probably surprise him for his birthday :-)

My first choice would be our dog Koga. He adopted us (showed up in our yard as a pup, and after walking him around the neighborhood to see if he belonged to anyone, we ended up with him). My second choice would be my cat Sasha. He’s just a loveable cat that likes to curl up with me in bed (funny enough, he also adopted us).

    PAINT MY PET!

I just have one child, er pet, so thankfully that would be the easy decision. I have never met an animal that has more of a sense of humor than our miniature dachshund, Waffles. He throws tantrums, lays upside-down in my lap to beg for food, communicates surprisingly well (without barking) when his food bowl is empty or he needs to go outside, and chases rabbits in our backyard but never hurts them. He’s the reason that I now understand why people clone their dogs :)

And thank you for all the nice giveaways you guys do!
