Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada

PAINT MY PET! Actually Cooper the rescue dachshund is my daughter’s dog; we have joint custody so she can travel and work long hours. Cooper is a clown about everything – he talks when he wants to eat, brings toys and talks when he wants to play and loves his Cosy Cave Snoozer bed (that he can totally bury himself in) more than anything. He is a ham that has brought great joy into our lives, part time, when we old retired people thought we had had our last pet.

My doodle Finnegan. He likes to bark at fur bunnies under the furniture. Yes, worse than a nagging mother, but really funny.

I’d LOVE a painting of our baby girl Bella. She’s nine years old, which is senior citizen for a boxer, and she’s the sweetest, most loving dog a family could ask for. She’ll always hold a very special place in our lives and hearts. Her special talent is ‘bark-uuming,’ which is very handy with all the food our 4.5 year old drops on the floor!

PAINT MY PET! I would absolutely love to have my little rescue puppy, Winston, painted. He’s a goofy lab/golden retriever cross that we’ve had for about 4 years. He makes us laugh every single day. Our other dog is more serious, but Winston is just not. He has this goofy “old man bark” that we joke about being what Clint Eastwood would sound like as a dog. He loves to cuddle with the cat and when he’s on the floor alone lays on his back with his arms flopping out in crazy directions. It would be SO cool to have a painting of him. Thank you so much for the giveaway.

PAINT MY PET! I would get my little girl painted – she’s a 75 lb Chocolate Lab named Bailey. She is my bestest friend, even though she hates all my kisses! She wakes me up in the middle of the night to get under the covers and snuggle in my legs. She must be walked by 7 am or else she gets crazy! I love her so much.

Paint my Pet! We would get our only pet, our dog Lexie, painted. She is the sweetest thing. Every night she comes to both sides of our bed for my husband and I to tell her goodnight. Once we both pet her and tell her goodnight, she goes to her crate and goes straight to sleep. (She is an 85 lb American Bulldog, so she will put her head on the bed for you to tell her goodnight)

PAINT MY PET! Miss Molly Manute, my 2-year-old pitbull mix is such a sociable sweetheart. She has never met a dog or child she doesn’t like and is amazingly gentle with the tiniest of the lot, be they babies or tea cup yorkies. When we walk, she always stops to meet everyone and everyone knows her name. Sometimes, while walking in town, people (who we don’t recognize) shout out her name and call her over for snuggles. Seriously. We’ve stopped bringing her with us when we sit outside at dinner in town because she’s so popular that we barely get a chance to eat or converse.

PAINT MY PET! I would have my dog, Stoutland (named after a pokemon character), painted. He is a special dog who was only a day away from being euthanized when he was rescued by the agency we adopted him from. It is believed that he lived most of his life on the streets before coming to us, and although we got him when he was only 8 months old, our vet has found what looks like a beebee or buckshot lodged under his skin! He is a survivor and special boy – though definitely a handful!!!

When my boyfriend and I first got together he had just adopted a gorgeous old pitbull named Keishi. We had her for 3 years until she finally developed cancer at 13 and was gone within a month. We will always rescue dogs now because she completely changed our life and my perception on “bully breeds.”
