Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

PAINT MY PET! I’d get a painting of our boxer, Diesel. His facial expressions and the fact that he thinks he is human make him great! Plus he helps my hubby deliver diesel fuel everyday in their big truck!

Our Maggie May, a Boston Terrier is our little tough girl. She recently lost movement in one of her legs but it has not slowed her down a bit! The only thing she can not do anymore is army crawl across the whole living room, I miss her Boston Crawl.

    PAINT MY PET!

I would die over winning this one! I would paint my dog, Zeus- he’s an almost 4-years-old rescue mutt who looks like a meat-heated, buff, intimidating guy- what makes him the greatest is that underneath that muscle, he is marshmallow! He loves to cuddle (little spoon, of course) more than anything in the world, is scared of loud noises, and doesn’t care if he’s being poked and prodded, so long as someone is paying attention to him.

Paint my pet pretty please! His name is Watson and he is a golden retriever. His ridiculous golden retriever face is just begging to be transformed into a quirky bright painting. In fact, he is (almost) literally begging you with his famous puppy dog eyes right now!

PAINT MY PET! I would choose our cat, Gilly, named after the character on SNL. We now lovingly refer to him as Mr. Giggers. Our daughter couldn’t say Gilly when she was younger. She pronounced it as Giggy. He is a garage/barn cat that loves to visit inside. He is giant and gentle. His favorite past time is begging for food while standing on his hind legs. We love our Mr. Giggers.

PAINT MY PET! It would have to be both my kitties, Mika and Mochi. Mochi only likes to watch TV if there’s animals on the screen (she loves Cats 101 and pet food commercials). Mika likes to run in her cat wheel several times a day and always wants to go on park outings (they are leash-trained).

They also have their own blog: rambunctiousrosettes.blogspot.com

My cat, Opie, is so unique. He loves to cuddle, open cabinet doors and go on walks with us. We started out walking him on a leash (we live in a busy apartment complex) but now he walks along with us – racing from tree (scratch scratch) to tree.
Would love a portrait of him!

PAINT MY PET! I’d have our 12-year-old cat, Belle (aka Nicey), painted because she is the sweetest kitty in the world and because we just found out she has cancer and will probably be with us for just 3-6 more months. Our 5-year-old twins call her Nicey because when they were younger and would crawl around chasing her we would say “be nice to kitty!” But Nicey also suits her because she is the gentlest cat I have ever known. No matter how many times she DID get her tail pulled, she has never once swatted, scratched, or even hissed. We will all be heartbroken when the time comes to say goodbye (we haven’t told the kids yet about the cancer) and would love to have a painting to keep.

Paint my pet! I’m on the fence about which puppy I’d want to be painted. My new Golden Retriever or my deceased Puggle. The Puggle was the saddest looking dog in the world. The Golden is so smart and he loves sleeping underneath things (the couch, the bed, the ottoman).

Definitely our Yorkshire Terrier named Taco (we also love a good food name for a dog, hehe) He is only 5 months old as of yesterday, but that 4 pound pup packs so much personality! I love that when we eat breakfast on the porch on weekend he could stay out there all day destroying fallen leaf after leaf. We figure it’s his version of sticks since he is so darn small. He cracks us up!

Paint my pet! What an awesome giveaway! I’d love to have out Amy painted. She is our best girl… We fostered her as a puppy after she was rescued from Philly at a few days old. She has always been a little nervous belly but is now growing into her own and is just the sweetest. We knew we couldn’t give her up and so we adopted our little foster failure over a year ago :-)

PAINT MY PET! We have a loveable 10 year old cocker spaniel Griffin who we rescued when he was 4 years old. He has been our constant support/lap dog through life’s joyous events (birth of our daughter-now 2) and not so joyous (deaths in the family). He is our ‘food thrown on floor’ cleaner, will sing for treats and isn’t himself unless he gets his 22 hours of rest. What a great giveaway and Happy Birthday to Burger!

PAINT MY PET! My best boy Cooper is a 3 year old black lab and I love him more than I should admit. He went blind about a year ago before he turned 2, but remains gentle and tons of fun. He doesn’t let his lack of eyesight slow him down (which occasionally terrifies me), but instead keeps us inspired by not letting it ruin his fun!
