Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)

PAINT MY PET! I would love a portrait of my cat Lucy. Despite her behaviour leading to her nickname becoming ‘Lucifer’ when she was a kitten she has turned into a cuddly and sweet cat. She even accepts hugs, kisses, and play spoon feedings from my 1 1/2 year old.

My dog Wilson is the pet I’d want painted. He is also going to be celebrating his 6th birthday this year. And, he’s about to not be an only child, as I am due with my first human child in March. He has been the most amazing and loyal dog child a girl could ask for. He is a lovable 80 pound lab mix who thinks he’s lap dog and loves to wrestle and play.

PAINT MY PET! I would have a really hard time choosing which of our 3 cats to paint because they all have very distinct personalities. Azalia has the most beautiful face and is fiercely loyal to me but scared of new people. Pluto could be a dog she’s so friendly and follows you around. And Finn is our handsome little man with his tail always flicking mischievously!

we’ve got three wonderful dogs, & of course, i love them all the same! but, if forced to choose one for portraiture [as i will be when i win], i’d have to choose our eldest, daisy sparkle.

she is 6yo [just like burger], our only girl pup, & she works it! she’s extremely girly, loves to dress up, & is self-cleaning like a cat [seriously, we’ve never bathed her – not once – but she’s the cleanest, fluffiest, softest dog we’ve ever had]. but she’s also the unchallenged leader of our four-legged pack, tennis-ball obsessed & incredibly athletic – she’s about 25 lbs & has a 5ft vertical.

daisy puts the wow in bow-wow for us, & i think she’d LOVE gazing upon a portrait of herself!!! :)

    PAINT MY PET!

    His name is Max.

He’s the epitomy of a gentle giant (160 lbs)– all white fluff and sweet eyes– he’s totally dreamy.

He’s also an older guy- 11.5 years old– but has been with us since he was a (relatively) tiny pup (9 weeks old and 11 lbs). Where does the time go???

Max was just diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) a few weeks ago so I know our time with him is limited and we’re just taking every possible moment to enjoy being with him.

Several years ago, our 5 year old next door neighbor summed him up this way “I think I know why Max is so big– he’s just so full of love!” I couldn’t have said it better myself.

I would paint my cats Tyson and Daisy. Tyson is more aloof but will let you know when he needs to be pet. And Daisy is a lovable lap cat who is just weird. She’ll poke me/scratch me in the early morning hours so that she can be fed. :) Daisy adores Tyson, her older “brother” and he tolerates her to the best of his ability.

I absolutely love your blog and the fact that this giveaway is open to Canadians! I would LOVE a portrait of our dog Maggie. She is the sweetest girl; super cute and quirky! I can’t believe I’m actually going to write this but one of the funniest things about her is that when she farts she turns around and looks at her bum like she doesn’t know where “that” came from, it’s hilarious and doesn’t get old ha! We actually put that as one of our favorite things about her on the back of the table numbers at our wedding :)

Paint my Pet – our dog Bruce is our fur baby. We don’t have kids yet and I love him like he’s my child. He is a boxer and has so much personality, I think that he thinks he’s a person sometimes. When I talk to him he looks at me like he’s listening. He loves our early morning runs and I don’t know what I’ll ever do without him around.
