Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

Why? because there is nothing cuter than a puppy.

I’d actually have my parent’s dog Jake painted. They got him as empty-nesters after my brother and I left for college over 16 years ago. They love their adorable pup *almost* as much as I love them!

I would LOVE to have a painting of my maltese/shih tzu mix Gabby. She is my baby, and spoiled rotten. She thinks she owns the place. One of her quirks is when I have her special greenie treat, I tell her to “Sneeze” and she can sneeze on command. =]

I would want my dog Jackson painted. He is a shelter rescue we got when he was 6 months old. He loves to roll around on his blanket until he is covered and then walk around. Its like peek a boo with your pet. Except you don’t have to do anything!

PAINT MY PET!!! I have an (almost) 8 year old Rottweiler that we’ve had since she was a puppy. She was being sold in July in a HOT Wal-Mart parking lot (we live in Texas). She and her sister were drinking from a broken water sprinkler. We took her, first, to my mom’s so she could me her “Granddog” and then the rest is history. She’s been with us as we brought both of our babies home, and loved them like her own :D. She’s a very special girl.

Paint my pet! Our dog Daisy, a Saint Bernard/Border Collie mix, has an unusual condition where she pants practically all the time. She’s been checked numerous times by vets and deemed completely healthy… she just pants all the time. Weird, but it’s something we’ve become used to. It helps that she’s huge and extremely sweet and gentle with our kids. She’s a big baby.

“PAINT MY PET!” I have the most adorable kitties in the world! They are sisters from the same litter, but have the most opposite personalities. One is independent, shy, and cuddly with long hair and a long tail, while her sister is needy, vocal, has short hair, and a stump for a tail!

I would want you to paint my Min Pin/Chihuahua ‘Mitchie’ for me. His best buddy is his red rubber football that he takes everywhere with him, and I mean EVERYWHERE. And he loves to shake the football in his mouth when it storms because he gets so mad when it rains and thunders!

    PAINT MY PET!

We rescued a boxer mix in January 2011. Her name is Maia and she’s quite small, only 33lbs, so sometimes we speculate that she’s part chihuahua or Jack Russell.

She loves to sit with me while I read and knows lots of tricks! She’s so smart and makes us laugh all the time! My favorite is when she’s playing with a toy and flicks it up in the air so she can chase it.

We would love to have a painting of our golden retreiver, Nellie. We adopted her a year ago. She is seven years old and spent her first six years in a neglectful environment. She was rescued by Great Lakes Golden Retreiver Rescue, nursed back to health, and then placed in a loving foster home until we were chosen to be her new family. Love her!

PAINT MY PET! Actually, paint my friend’s pet… I know she reads YHL so I’m taking a chance she won’t actually see this, but her dog almost died a few weeks ago from a snake bite, and he is the gentlest soul, and although he pulled through it was terrifying! Anyway, he is the sweetest big goofy thing (especially when he puts his paw up on the seat beside you to ask if he may join you) and I don’t know what we all would have done without him…
