Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

I would have Lesli paint my orange maine coon, Ryan Gosling. He is so cute, super doofy and loves cuddle time at night, where he lays on my chest and wants to be petted.

My German Shepherd/Lab mix (or Sheprador as we lovingly call him) has been my personal body guard since my husband’s deployment to Iraq in 2007. He follows me everywhere, and sometimes even lays on the bathroom floor while I’m taking a shower. He’s such a loyal and faithful friend!

PAINT MY PET! We have a fluffy 15 lb tuxedo cat. Besides always being dressed fancy the thing I love about her the most is her night routine. She goes to each kid and ” tucks” them in bed. She licks their head and lays down with each one. She ends the night with our oldest by getting under the covers and laying her head on the pillow. Not very cat like but it sure makes her extra special.

Paint my pet! I’d have the portrait done of my sister’s cats for her bday. She loves those tabbies. My dog Rufus is the best because he can always always always stop my 5 month old from crying. One look from him and she’s happy again.

PAINT MY PET! Oh, oh, oh!! The decisions!!! We have three awesomely unique cats – an orange tiger “with white detailing” named Beardlsee, a sleek gray drama-queen named Winston, and a sweet-but-stupid multi-colored tiger named Jasper. Beardslee’s a rescue (literally rescued him hours before he died) and means the world…but Winston’s flamboyantly dramatic and would be uber-jealous…but Jasper’s my lil’ chunker who found me on my birthday. I guess I’d make the hubby decide, mwahaha. :-)

PAINT MY PET!!! I would have my pure bred mutt Lucky painted. He’s special to our family because my husband and I found him wandering around an abandoned cabin in the middle of nowhere. He was about 7 months old and just about starved to death. We brought him home and now (2 years later) he’s a very high energy, big-eared, lovable ball of fun that we couldn’t live without!

Who knew swinging by the SPCA on the way back from our honey moon..would bring the most special soul in to our lies? Bleu went thru college, house buying, parenthood (three times) and so much more with us. A painting would be super special.

PAINT MY PET! Daisy’s ears are her superpower. They are, in a word, massive. She’s an adorable combo of rat terrier and cattle dog, which we lovingly refer to as ‘rattle dog.’ She got the standing-at-attention ears of both breeds, and then some more! But they are the softest, warmest, pinkest on the inside puppy ears in the world. Ever since she was a tiny puppy we could lull her to sleep by stroking her ears… Awwww!

The other is adorable & intelligent. But we also had a cat die in August, and she had the most beautiful seafoam green eyes. I probably shouldn’t win, because I don’t know what I would do.

My yellow lab, Doctor Paw, would make a FABULOUS model for one of these paintings! I am 36 weeks pregnant and she loves to cuddle my baby belly – she even sleeps with her head on it, getting kicked and poked and prodded! I know she’ll make a wonderful big sister in a few weeks :) Also she’s a Dudley lab, which means she lacks pigment in her eyes/nose/muzzle, so she’s extra special.
