Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada

    Paint My Pet!

We have 2 dogs so I guess I’ll have to choose… Teller is a Great Dane (aka the big dumb dinosaur) and the naughtiest dog ever but also ridiculously loving, cuddly and so cute! Double is an Aussie mix who adores me and “protects” me to the point where we have to put him away when people come over, but he’s so sweet and smart that I still love him anyway. I guess we’d have to flip a coin… or get one free and buy one?

I would want my sweet dog painted. What makes her so great is that we adopted her from our local shelter, and we have been lucky to watch her personality grow and shine. She was so timid when we first adopted her, and now she’s her own sweet girl and we love her so much that we often find ourselves asking ourselves why we waited so long to adopt!

I’d paint my American Eskimo, Jade! She is extremely vocal and talkative, which is hilarious. She “talks” when she isn’t the center of attention :) She is a cuddle bug and demands that she sleeps with me and my husband or she will “complain” in her special language. She is adorable.

Tough to choose with a full house like mine, but I think I’d get my 1st rescue dog, Diamond, painted. She had a rough start to life and she has come out of her shell so much in the last couple years, so capturing that in a painting would be perfection!

I would like my family dog Sunny painted. She is a 15-year-old golden retriever. She has been with us through it all and she is still running down the steps to chase the deer out of our front yard every morning. I can’t bear to think of the day when she has to leave us, and having a portrait painted of her would be so wonderful and comforting to look at when that day comes.

“PAINT MY PET!”I would have a hard time deciding between my two dogs. Daisy is a pitbull cross and a big lovebug, who follows me wherever I go. She also really has a problem with closes doors. No matter which side of it that she is on, she will scratch on it to get you to open it. Bumble is our Boston Terrier cross and he is adorable. He has to taste test everyone around him though! That tongue never stops trying to find a piece of exposed skin.

Paint my pet! My yellow lab Peaches is a big ol’ 80 pound girl, but my husband treats her like a lap dog, so she thinks she is. She doesn’t understand her size or weight and plops down on top of you. My favorite thing she does is what I call “morning kisses.” As soon as I turn off my alarm, she hops on the bed, climbs on top of me with one paw on either shoulder, and licks my face. Nothing says love like big sloppy Peaches kisses.

I have a 4 year old mutt (pit bull something or other) whom I love love love. I got her from a rescue group when she was just 7-ish months old. She has a odd affinity for carrying things… especially shoes. When I take my shoes off at the front door, she’ll carry one up the two flights of stairs to the bedroom and then set it down so I can put it away in the closet (obviously, she’s not allowed in the closet). I keep saying I need another dog to carry the other shoe. :)

Paint My Pet!! My dog is a rescue in the truest sense: she was found running around without a collar and a microchip that wasn’t registered. We tried calling around to shelters, vets and posting fliers in the neighborhood and online, but no one every stepped forward. 3 yrs. later, I don’t know how we lived without her.
