Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

I’d love a portrait of our schipperke/pomeranian mix Waffles. She’s a soft & fuzzy cuddleball who loves treats and doesn’t understand why she’d ever want to fetch anything for us when she could just stay on the couch.

We would paint our dog Pico, who is a huge black lab and is so adorable with our baby. He has even gone so far as licking her when she is crying and helping out reading her favorite book “Doggies,” by barking and howling in all the right spots. He’s a pretty amazing big brother.

I’d get my sister’s dog Sheba painted for her. Sheba is living with my parents while my sister is in college, and both Sheba and my sister miss each other! She is a black version of Burger and has just as much personality!

I have two greyhounds who I would love to have paintings of! I would choose one of them and then buy a painting of the other so neither is left out. They’re both rescue dogs and we can’t help but marvel that for ex-racers, they are SO lazy!

    PAINT MY PET!

I would like my dog Tiny Eevee, she really is tiny, painted because she is truely a special little girl. I found her on the side of the road when she was only 3 weeks old and less than 1 lb in weight. I was driving down a coountry road getting some time to think after having a bad day and I saw a tiny speck in the road. This tiny speck turned into my little buddy! After bottle-feeding her for 2 weeks and giving her special vitamins and antibiotics from the vet she survived and will be celebrating her first birthday this week!

    “PAINT MY PETS!”
I have two miniature dachshunds and they are the most beautiful, adorable and sweet creatures ever. They are like my kids (I have two kids as well). Bella thinks she’s a kid and Sophie hops like a bunny and purrs like a cat. This would make a great conversational picture about my babies.

I’d probably have my sister’s dog painted since she is so attached to him and they’ve been separated for almost a year (she’s been on the road since March). One thing that makes him unique is that he had an inner ear infection a few years ago (he’s fine now) and as a result, he always cocks his head to one side. As if to say, “are you sure I can’t have another snack?”

I would paint one of my cats, Bailey. He has an ear-piecing scream (especially at 2am), an ego the size of the house, a brain the size of a microbe, and no respect for personal boundaries. Because of that, he is awesome.

Paint My Pet – We have 2 cats, 2 dogs and 2 rabbits, but I would have to choose my Dorkie (Dachshund/Yorkie mix) Lola because she is my soul-mate. She is also the smartest, cutest dog I have ever known. Really, she is too smart and it gets her into all sorts of trouble. But, since she is my soul-mate, I mostly think her antics are adorable and proof of her amazing intelligence. :) She is 9 and has had a very rough year with a back inury and a bout of Pancreatitis that she almost didn’t make it through. Her squirrel chasing days are over, but she has a good life otherwise.

I would have our toy/mini poodle, Duncan painted. We rescued him about 6 months ago. He is our starter baby, but he is up and down crazy! We swear he’s really part cat! He curls up like a cat in sleeping, is constantly grooming himself, and will play with his ball by batting with his paws and nose…we will probably never have another pet after him, we love him so much!

PAINT MY PET! We have 2 Italian Greyhounds, Vinny and Gia. They both are the sweetest dogs ever with lots of personality, though Vinny is a bit more of a cuddlebug (Gia only likes to cuddle with Vinny). Unfortunately Vinny is in critical condition in the hospital after suffering from a pellet gunshot that went through his whole body, hitting multiple organs in its path. He endured over 5 hours of surgery Friday morning and is still fighting for his life – he is our little angel and we would love a portrait of his happy little face! (Completely understand if the above is too sad and heavy for the blog here, so please delete the details if necessary)

I have 2 pets- Paisley (jack russell mix) and Scrappy (sheppard mix).
Scrappy is the braun and Paisley is the brain of the operation (we like to think of them as pinkey & the brain). Paisley is about 90lbs smaller than Scrappy and will get him to do her grunt work (ie: tipping the trash can over so she can enjoy the contents).
It is so funny how they both have such strong personalities – LOVE this give away!
