Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

PAINT MY PET! My fiance has a German Short-Haired Pointer and he is the weirdest, best dog ever. Not only does he hate to swim and make a terrible hunting dog due to his crippling fear of loud noises (unlike others of his breed), but he must sleep under the covers with you. Also, contrary to everything I’ve ever heard about chocolate and dogs being a lethal combo, he remains in one piece to this day . . . many Hershey bars later.

PAINT MY PET! I’d definitely have her paint our “beagle baby” Olive (or “Ollie”). She just turned 1 in July and she is the light of our life. What we love most about her is that it is her own personal mission to befriend every human and animal she encounters. She’s a great role model for sure! ;)

Paint my pet! We have an athletic miniature dachshund who cannot resist getting up on the dinner table (bad!) whenever someone leaves a chair pulled out…but she feels so guilty about doing it when she knows she is not supposed to be up there that she just gets up there and waits with a guilty face next to the plates for the nearest adult to spot her and put her back on the ground.

    PAINT MY (DAD’S) PET!

My father has his faithful pup Killer (who is a Corgi / Pomeranian mix, so the name is completely ridiculous).

Killer is turning 13 this year and he’s become a rather grey old fellow. We know there will never be another Killer so my mom and I have been discussing having a portrait made for my father so even when he doesn’t have the curly tailed fellow in the house, there will still be a good remembrance of him.

Paint my pet! I’d like to have my dog Panda painted. My family got him when I was ten, and he passed away last spring (a year and a bit ago). My family had two dogs, and while one was definitely “my mom’s”, Panda was “mine”. He slept on my bed every night, curled up at my feet when I played piano. Sat beside me on the couch. He was a very “kind-hearted” dog, very friendly. Even though I moved away to college during his last years, I always felt connected to him. We definitely miss him.

PAINT MYPET!! A house doesn’t feel like a home without pets in it. I’d get a painting of Wedding Cat. We have our dogs, Daisy and Riley, splashed all over the house. WC doesn’t get a lot of wall space, but she has a big place in our hearts…and hopefully on our walls in the future if we win this!

We are the proud owners of the happiest, silliest and sweetest mini Goldendoodle named Ruby. She kind of looks like a stuffed animal and neighborhood kids just love her. She’s always good even when little ones pull her ears. She loves people and is such a clinger. Girl has to be on top of you at all times. We just love her! Paint my pup!!

We adopted (hairy) Truman from the local shelter three summers ago and our lives have completely changed. He was a stray that no one ever claimed. We take him everywhere we can, spend many evenings cuddling and playing. He’s a sweet, shaggy boy–just imagine sandy from Annie. He had lots of fears and anxieties that we’ve been continually working through with him (doorways, stairs, dog food?, doorbells) but it’s all worth it. We would love to have a funky, bold painting of our guy! Thanks!

My husband has had him since 1st grade (though according to a turtle scientist we met once, red-eared sliders only live to be about 9 months old), and he’s weathered two cross-country moves. I’d love, love, love to have a painting of him up on our wall!!
