Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)

    PAIN MY PET!

I have a wild west highland terrier. Normally this breed is very bold and independent. But not a day goes by that you wouldn’t find him snuggled up on mom or dads lap. He’s even more cuddly with me being pregnant and due any day. We’ve been looking to do a portrait of our guy and i would love to win this and hang him over our mantle!

If I won, I think I would choose my parents’ dog, a beautiful saluki, because while I love my cat to death, she is anything but photogenic, haha. She’s a scrawny old lady (16) alley cat with one eye, and a complete bi**h to everyone in the world but me. With me she is the sweetest, cuddliest, most loving cat ever and an excellent roommate. :)

Paint my pet! My hubby and I adopted a 5 year old English Bulldog named Lola this year. One of my favorite things that she does is snuggle right up in bed in between us – she likes to be touching both of us whenever possible! She was negleted by her former owner, so we are thrilled to pamper her. She is the princess of the house.

We would love to have a painting of her – she has such a beautiful face. Thanks for hosting this great giveaway!

PAINT MY PET……….I WOULD LOVE TO WIN THIS FANTASTIC PRIZE. THIS PAST JULY I LOST MY BELOVED MURPHY TO RENAL FAILURE. HE WAS A WHEATEN TERRIER WITH THE MOST SOULFUL
BROWN EYES. I HAVE SOME PICS OF HIM THAT I AM SURE
YOUR ARTIST COULD USE TO BRING ABOUT HIS PERSONALITY IN
A PORTRAIT. HE WAS A GENTLE SPIRIT THAT NEVER MET A STRANGER.

Paint My Pet (Please)!! Mac Harvey is the smartest, funniest, fiercest Scottish Terrier ever to live (and he looked very dapper in my wedding two years ago, sporting a plaid bow tie). Until I met him, I had no idea that I was a dog person. He converted me.

Paint my pet!! We have two dogs. A six year old goldendoodle named Toby, and a four year old shih tzu named Divia. Toby is a big, goofy oaf who loves his tennis balls more than anything else. Divia is a sweet little girl who we got from a rescue organization called Ohio Fuzzy Pawz. She was found hanging out between two trash cans with such a bad skin infection that she hardly had any hair. She’s happy and healthy now, and follows me everywhere I go! Her favorite thing to play with is her food. She throws it out of her bowl with her mouth and then bats at it with her paws while chasing it around the kitchen! If I won… I wouldn’t be able to choose! I’d have to pay for an extra!

I adore my two Goldens and would love to see Biscuit and Chloe in an amazing portrait but I might have a painting done for my sister – she owns a camel – yep- named Cleo – yep :) – and lives near Leslie in Va. Could be an expeience for all of us!!!!!

We have just lost our lab, Barley and these paintings are the perfect way to record the character that he was! He came to us as a senior dog…and was with us 5 years. He was the happiest creature we have ever had the good fortune to share our lives with. These paintings look happy and fun, they’d be a perfect match!

    PAINT MY PET!!

I guess if I had to choose between Merlin, my black cat, and Digby, my short/long hair chihuahua I would have to choose Digby because he is so handsome. Merlin is just a black hole in photos! I love them both from the way Merlin meows until your ears bleed to the way Digby has a tendency to think he is a cat, but lack all the balance required to perform the feats he attempts. They keep my heart light.

Roxie Belle is a total momma’s girl! I can’t go ANYWHERE in the house without her, & she sleeps cuddled up to me at night! Despite her love for me, she has NOOO problem using her long legs (she’s 1/2 weimaraner, 1/2 black lab) to steal my blankets! She’s my precious angel & I have the PERFECT spot for a huge painting of her!

PAINT MY PET! Actually, he’s my step-pet of my bff Carrie’s, Boozer, a gorgeous 3 year old Puggle. Boozer was rescued from a shelter down in Ohio (we’re all from Michigan) and has had some difficulties adjusting to a loving home but is getting what the good life is all about finally (he was abused). I love it when Booz comes to hang out with me for a day or two…Aunt Steph lets him lay on her couch and she has a great big fenced back yard for him to run around. Would be such an awesome gift for Booz’s mom Carrie to keep up her great work with him.

PAINT MY PET! My boyfriend and I have an adorable pet bunny by the name of Gizmo. He’s mischievous just like the Gremlin and sometimes confused about his species. For instance, he will walk around like a dog, stand on his hind legs and walk a few steps (mostly for food), or even stand in front of the fridge and look at us with puppy eyes.

We almost lost him a few weeks ago as he ended up with aspiration pneumonia. This painting would be extremely special to us since we were devastated when he was on the brink of death.

PAINT MY PET! Our dog, Charlie, turns seven this year. We got him when he was two when his previous owner passed away. Charlie is a Portuguese waterdog who always gets lots of comments from passersby because he’s all black with one white paw. But we love him because he always wants to cuddle.

Does he steal our socks and shoes? Um, yeah. He’s still freaking adorable and can’t help it if mischief follows him wherever he goes. We love him to the moon and back and can’t remember life without teeth marks in our arms and socks without holes.

“PAINT MY PET!” I’d love to have my parent’s dog (my first childhood dog) Buddy painted! About 3 weeks ago we had a huge scare when Buddy was poisoned and the vet suggested putting him down since he was in such bad shape. Luckily my parents brought him home instead so we could all say our goodbyes. For the following few nights my parents slept in shifts so that someone could he could be turned every 4 hours to prevent bed sores. Now, amazingly, he’s mostly back to his 12 year-old-puppy-dog-self! I think a painting of him for Christmas would be a great surprise!!
