Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

PAINT MY PET! I would love to have a painting of my little Maltese, Shorty. He is a rescue dog that we got two years ago when we lost our other two dogs within six weeks of each other. We rescued Shorty, and he rescued us, too!

PAINT MY PET! I already have the best picture of my sweet little maltese, Nellie! She’s such a funny dog and I call her the treat monster because she literally lives for treats (and kisses from her mama, of course!)

PAINT MY PET! We have a Yorkie named Barkley (how fitting we now know). He hates any sort of manual labor so getting things done around the house can be rather difficult! He barks like crazy when I vacuum, set up the ironing board, replace garbage bags, use the hair dryer, fold laundry – you name it! It’s rather annoying but I’ll miss it one day I’m sure!

PAINT MY PET!! Our pup, Griffey, is a mega-mutt (he is literally a mix of 12 different breeds) and we rescued him when he was 10 weeks old. He turns 3 this month and a painting would be the best b-day gift ever!

PAINT MY PET! We have a wonderful pup, Tobs, who is a husky/german shepherd mix, but I would probably get a portrait of his girlfriend, Riley, done for our friends who just moved into a new house! What better to give than art of their beloved puppy?

We would definitely choose it to be of our 120 lb. lap dog, Spliff! He’s the best big brother to our 17 month old daughter and the biggest sissy/ lover boy you could ever meet. He’s our first born and we love him to pieces!

PAINT MY PET! I rescued a puggle from an animal hospital while I was in college. I moved back in with my parents for a while, and my puggle and their golden doodle became inseparable. When my husband and I got married and I moved in with him, my parents let me take their dog with us. So, I stole my mom and dad’s dog. Oh, and they think they’re people. Imagine that?

Paint my pet! We too would have a dog painted that has since passed. My husband even has a tattoo of it on his foot, to always see her at his feet. Talk about hillbilly. PAINT MY PET!!! Our dog is a Tibetian Terrier, and probably the cutest, sweetest, dog you’ve ever met! And our two year old pup will have a baby brother here soon–a really baby of course. We wanted to have a picture of our Gus painted to keep in the nursery that our son can keep forever. We figure Gus will no longer stay in our bed but stay outside the nursery door as he loves protecting our family.

What’s so funny about Gus….when I was sick with a cold recently and stayed home..Gus slept right by my pregnant belly and every time I would sneeze or cough he would bark in his sleep. He is a character!!

Honestly, since I can’t play favorite with my kitties :) I think I would have my grandma’s dog Ella painted to give to her as a gift. Since my grandpa passed away that dog is the reason my grandma gets up every morning and seeing how much joy she brings my grandma makes me want to spread the love around with such a wonderful gift she can hang on the wall!

I would paint my 3 year old German shepherd, Remy. She is my 90lb, extremely furry baby. I love how sweet she is – so many people think of scary police dogs when they see her out for a walk and will often cross the street. Little do they know she’s a giant cupcake and is more likely to cuddle your face off than she is to bite it off:)
