***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

We really like the color in all of Erica’s work, and we love that our winner will be able to guide the color and design of their custom work to fit their home perfectly. You can even pick the best size for your space (from a 12 x 9″ up to 16 x 20″). Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

PAINT ME A PICTURE! I have a water color in my office, painted for me by my favorite 9 year old when she was just 4. One of my all-time favorite “masterpieces,” by my all-time favorite little person, who is growing into a big person all too fast!

PAINT ME A PICTURE! My favorite is an oil painting of a small (I think) Italian village that I found in a thrift store for $7. It hangs in my office at work and I get compliments on it all the time – I call it my ‘wishful thinking’.

My favorite piece of art was given to me by a former violin student. She had painted a still life with her violin as the centerpiece. So special! She is now studying art as a college sophomore. I am so proud of her!

The only one of a king artwork I have in my apartment is a winter forest scene done by my grandmother. She doesn’t pay too often anymore so I’m glad she painted something for me before she stopped. :)

Of course, the kids’ paintings are the best, but I also have liked the ones I’ve painted. I’ve taken inspiration from professionals selling their work on Etsy, and then I’ve tried to add my own touches to the blank canvas.

My fave piece of art I have is a sketch done by a friend of mine. It’s of a naked woman in all sorts of poses (tasteful of course) done in blacks and browns. I got it framed and have it sitting on my mantle. I love that I have a piece of original art from a friend of mine.

My boyfriend and I are living in our first (rented) home together. He is a design student and I am a writer. We follow your blog religiously in hopes ofgetting tips on buying our own place in the near future. My favorite piece(es) of one-of-a-kind art in our space is a set of oil paintings he bought me for the holidays last year from an artist local to his hometown in Kentucky. They are paintings of a girl and a boy (each) with thought bubbles above their heads filled with letters, showing the difference from a boy (block letters in a random order) and a girl (organized alphabetically in different fonts) thought processes! They show our personalities greatly!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

The one original work in my home that comes to mind is a special letter (of sorts) that my husband gave me just before our wedding. It’s on parchment, in five parts. For a few years, it sat in a drawer, while I thought about how to best preserve and/or display it. He eventually ordered a custom frame and put it together, just as I had envisioned, and had it hanging on the wall when we brought our firstborn home from the hospital. I see it every morning when I wake and I treasure it!
