Fab Freebie: Paint Me A Picture

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

Eriksdotter Skyline

Eriksdotter Grey Petals

We really like the color in all of Erica’s work, and we love that our winner will be able to guide the color and design of their custom work to fit their home perfectly. You can even pick the best size for your space (from a 12 x 9″ up to 16 x 20″). Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

Not only do we have one winner, but everyone can get 10% off of anything from Studio Eriksdotter through Dec 9th. Use the code YOUNGHOUSELOVE for any stationery purchase in her Etsy shop or you can contact her directly for art inquiries.

And our very lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Ali Moore. Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Studio Eriksdotter.

Our girls provide all of the original artwork in our home. Would love to have something a little more “professional” though! :)

My favorite piece of art is a pointillism of a hockey goalie I did in high school art class. It took me a few months, but it turned out great and is now hung in my son’s bedroom.

My favorite piece of art is our “Wedding Tree” that was painted on a canvas by my best friend’s sister (she’s amazing!) and then used as a guestbook for wedding this past March… we absolutely LOVE how it turned out!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

I don’t have any “original” pieces of art hanging in my home. However, I do have a painting hanging in my living room that was given to me by my grandmother. It’s an abstract piece with lots of bold, bright colors. I couldn’t even tell you who painted it. But it holds much more sentimental value to me because it is the one thing I got from her that I can pass onto my children.

My favorite piece is by my friend’s grandfather. He painted a memory he had of the Polish circus. It’s pink and orange and shows horses in the ring.

My favorite painting is one that we received as a wedding gift. It’s a painting of the Annapolis waterfront, which is where my husband proposed to me. It’s so nice to look at that painting and have so many memories come rushing back.

“PAINT ME A PICTURE!” My favorite original art piece is the profile drawing of me that a high school classmate did in art class 20 years ago. She whipped it up all professional like in 5 minutes while I spent the entire class trying to make something resembling her. :)

I doubt they’re one of a kind, but I love this set of four prints I found at a local consignment shop. They’re vintage Cadillac prints, and even I think that sounds so cheesy when I say it, but they’re actually really cool. The colors are beautiful and the cars are from the early 1900’s, so they’re interesting to look at too. I can’t find any pics of the ones we have, but this one is probably from the same series:

I wasn’t going to comment, ‘cept I fell in love with the last piece, the daisy petals. I collect almost anything daisy and that (with a different color background) would be perfect for my collection!
