I have this love (almost obsession) for Jimmy Page so I decided to paint a monochramtic acrylic of him…then I decided his face is too pretty for me to ever put it in a painting. So I have a faceless Jimmy Page bowing his les paul over my fireplace…and I love it.

PAINT ME A PICTURE!
My favorite original is a surfboard that I commissioned an artist to paint a Hawaiian scene on the front – the hubs and I honeymooned there and fell in love with a painted surfboard we found. After thinking about it all night, we went back the next day to purchase it and it was SOLD! So we got the artist info for future information, and for our first anniversary I called her up and had her paint a beach scene with the Na Pali coast in the background (since Kauai is the island we were on at the time)! She even painted our names w/a heart in the sand :)

PAINT ME A PICTURE…..my FAVORITE piece of original art in my house was painted by my grandmother. She used to paint watercolors that were beautiful. She did a huge winter time painting of a creek running through the woods with snow on the ground for my mom and I scored it a year or so ago! Most of her prints were never completed, and then her arthritis got so bad to sign the ones that were, so she left lots of them when she died but this one is my favorite and I treasure it.

My favorite piece of art currently in our house is a frame with a row of photos of architectural objects that spell out our last name. My wife gave it to me as a wedding gift- she took the photos herself all around the City where we live.

Firstly, THANK YOU for including Canada in this draw! WOOHOO! I don’t get to enter often so this is extra special!
My favorite piece of original art in my home is a painting of a lighthouse and beach (think Peggy’s Cove, NS) on a gray windy day.

Paint me a picture! My favorite piece of artwork would be a vintage sign from my Dad’s ice business that I framed and hung in my kitchen. It reminds me of my childhood helping him at his company bagging ice in the hot summers. It represents his efforts to make a better life for his family and I appreciate that!

PAINT ME A PICTURE — our favorite “one of a kind” at the moment are two blown up black and white photographs we took last Christmas season in Scotland while we were on a day trip with my in-laws, just a day before becoming engaged. for my fiance they are a bit of home, for me they represent my new family…love them both.

My favorite painting is one that my husband and I painted together for our little girl while I was still pregnant. It is full of birds and owls and a giant tree. It is nowhere near a professional masterpiece but it was quality family time for the two of us to work on it together.

Love the paintings. At age 4 my son painted me a watercolor trees after seeing my office at work and noticing that I didn’t have any windows. So, “Paint me a picture”, warms my heart and reminds me to cherish the little handmade things our children make. My son is 26 and going to be a father and that picture still hands in my home.

My favorite piece of art is a piece I did a few years back. I really like it and wish I had more time to paint, but in the 6 years I have lived in our house 1 painting is all I have managed.

We’re still in the mode of house decorating, which means I only have one piece of ‘art’ on the wall, and it’s a subway art knockoff that I did myself. I don’t absolutely love it, but it’s one of those ‘good enough’ things. I’d love new FREE artwork to put up there instead!

I can’t pick a favorite piece of art…I like to paint, so it’s hard to choose. The favorite “pieces” I like to stare at though are my little girls’ faces when they are sleeping…but I can’t take credit for those…that’s God created one of a kind craftsmanship right there. :)

A good friend of ours did a circus series where she actually traveled with performers and painted their portraits while they were between shows. She did an entire series and a hand full of them were nudes/partial nudes. She later went back and turned the nudes into tattooed people! The tattoos are beautiful detailed and look almost like clothes! We bid on one in an auction for breast cancer awareness and absolutely love it!

I have a pencil sketch of a kind of fey, definitely-not-Disney mermaid that my friend, who is a professional illustrator, gave me for my birthday one year. It’s framed and standing on one of my bookshelfs. I love it because it reflects the darker side of the fairy tales I love.
