***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

We really like the color in all of Erica’s work, and we love that our winner will be able to guide the color and design of their custom work to fit their home perfectly. You can even pick the best size for your space (from a 12 x 9″ up to 16 x 20″). Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

PAINT ME A PICTURE! My favorite one of a kind piece of art is a carrot that my brother drew in high school. The carrot is broken into four pieces, with each piece done with a different type of technique/media. It is small, hangs in our kitchen and is very dear to me.

    I can’t decide between my 2 favs:
–On a visit to our favorite B & B in Lewes, Delaware, my husband (then fiance’) found an adorable little shop that carried watercolor paintings from a local artist. We both reached for the same one and knew it was meant to be ours.
–On our honeymoon in Maui, we found a local artist that sold her canvases near the beach- all with that lovely beachy theme. We picked up a fresh little painting of ‘Black Rock’- the exact view from our hotel. A perfect reminder of our amazing time there :)

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My Fave OOAK artwork is the photo canvas above our fireplace. This photo is of Kinkakuji, in Kyoto where my boyfriend and I spent the bulk of our first New Years together. I went to Japan to visit him while he was away teaching English for a year. The photo reminds us of how happy we were to see each other after being apart for so long.

“PAINT ME A PICTURE!” At the moment my favorite painting is one my 7 yr old daughter has done of a mother panda and her baby. I was so surprised at how good it was I didn’t know she had that talent. The art teacher is putting into the school district’s art show later this year.

I don’t really have much art, we mostly use photography. I do have a piece I picked up from Marshall’s/Home Goods. Its more of a textured piece made out of dried leaves. They are some how attached to a square canvas and then each of the 4 quarters of the square is painted a different metallic color – green, red, purple, and gold. I wish I had a picture to post!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

We are fortunate to have many original pieces of art created by family members and friends hanging on our walls. One favorite piece, however, isn’t hanging. It’s a simple–yet beautiful–sketch of a pinecone that our daughter created several years ago (when she was about 12 or 13) at a summer art camp. That single pencil sketch was a real eye-opener for us, telling volumes about a talent that balances amazingly with her academic achievements. Thank heavens for that class, and the opportunity it gave us to allow our daughter to stretch her creative wings.

I have lots of original art in my house. But my favortie grouping is a series of 9 that my sister painted me using the theme of our beach wedding. Though we’ve been married 9 years, they painting still represent us and our love for art, the ocean, and each other!

Paint me a picture – My mother was an artist and I have saved every piece I was able to get my hands on. I have a collection of her still lives in my house currently in addition to a larger piece she did of a winding road with a farm house. Every time someone asks about them, I am very proud to saw they are original pieces by my mother.
