Fab Freebie: Paint Me A Picture

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

Eriksdotter Skyline

Eriksdotter Grey Petals

We really like the color in all of Erica’s work, and we love that our winner will be able to guide the color and design of their custom work to fit their home perfectly. You can even pick the best size for your space (from a 12 x 9″ up to 16 x 20″). Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

Not only do we have one winner, but everyone can get 10% off of anything from Studio Eriksdotter through Dec 9th. Use the code YOUNGHOUSELOVE for any stationery purchase in her Etsy shop or you can contact her directly for art inquiries.

And our very lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Ali Moore. Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Studio Eriksdotter.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My husband has painted many things for our home, but I think my favorite is an abstract piece on wood that is basically splatter paint :o) It’s so pretty, but was so easy!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!!!

My favorite one-of-a-kind piece is a drawing on my refrigerator from a former student that says, “Dear Ms. Heather, You are the best teacher in the world. I will miss having you for a teacher, but when I see you in the hall, I will give you a hug!”

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My favorite one-of-a-kind piece of artwork is the painting I recently completed in my first ever painting course. I was very reluctant to paint my most favorite kitty (who passed away this past year from cancer) because I thought I could never do him justice. I am so glad I gave it a shot because as we all know, it is the thought that counts. : )

I love having handmade, original artwork in my home. My latest project is a set of mini canvasses that are waiting for my niece and nephews’ hand prints.

    “PAINT ME A PICTURE!”

My favorite picture is a pencil sketch I drew in High School of a squirrel monkey that I had as a pet. My art teacher helped me immensely on it and it took me forever. Not a work of art but propbably the best I have ever done. It is mounted on a wooden shade in the garage.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE

On a recent business trip to Beijing, I received a hand-painted scroll in traditional script from a colleague who noticed I was rather stressed on the trip. The scroll contained a personal message of encouragement and support.

My favorite one-of-a-kind piece of artwork that I currently have is a wedding present that was painted for Husband & I. Our Polish friend painted his version of Husband & I in front of the Washington Monument. It’s beautiful and different, I love it.

We’re young, newly married, and don’t have lots of money, so we haven’t collected much artwork other than photos yet, but we have one original painting that I scored at a garage sale for a dollar, that’s of an abstract flower, and it looks awesome in our kitchen!

My husband’s birthday is coming up and I thought I’d get a little crafty this year. I got a canvas and some paint and filled it up with a smattering of colors that fit the theme of our master bedroom/bath (that currently has mostly empty walls). I can’t wait to give it to him and figure out where it’s new home will be.
