Fab Freebie: Paint Me A Picture

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

Eriksdotter Grey Petals

We really like the color in all of Erica’s work, and we love that our winner will be able to guide the color and design of their custom work to fit their home perfectly. You can even pick the best size for your space (from a 12 x 9″ up to 16 x 20″). Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

Not only do we have one winner, but everyone can get 10% off of anything from Studio Eriksdotter through Dec 9th. Use the code YOUNGHOUSELOVE for any stationery purchase in her Etsy shop or you can contact her directly for art inquiries.

And our very lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Ali Moore. Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Studio Eriksdotter.

PAINT ME A PICTURE! I have some small water color paintings that I picked up in Paris hanging in our living room. I like to try to pick up a little something from the places I travel. But anything that reminds me of Paris is my favorite!

When our 4th child was 6 weeks old, we had a photo made of him in a cradle and the other three kids looking adoringly at him. It’s my most prized possession. Too bad 6.5 years later they don’t look at him the same way:)

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

The first Christmas when we were together, I drew a charcoal of a cheetah’s head (my hubby loves cheetahs) for his gift and it turned out amazingly! It’s been hanging in our living room ever since :) Although I also love the nature shots from our trip to Costa Rica that my hubby took that we framed and hung in the bathroom. I love putting up our own art!

My favorite piece of artwork is the drawing my niece did of my husband and I on our wedding day. She was eight, and it’s absolutely gorgeous- stars in the sky and our faces are SO HAPPY. I have it framed, it’s so beautiful.

PAINT ME A PICTURE! I tried my hand at painting and it actually turned out not too bad. I painted one scene across 3 large canvasses of a common view around our home, a wide prairie field under a big blue sky with whippy clouds that had a little bit of that dusty purple to their shadowing. Turned out real purdy but a little nurseryesque for our main room. It looks great in our little girl’s room though!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!!

First time commenter here. I’d say my favourite piece of art that is currently up in our home is a nude drawing I did when I was 16 – my mum had enrolled me in a teen summer “camp” at the Art College and one of the projects was drawing nude models. It was an amazing experience and I ended up drawing one picture that I was really proud of. My husband and I got it framed shortly after moving in together and I love it!

Some other favourite pieces of art would be my husband’s creations and photography. And a fabric crown I created for our son’s first birthday. A fabric crown is art, right? :-)

My favorite one-of-a-kind art in our house is a modern funky painting of a house on a hill. We got it for a GREAT deal in a charity auction when we were in grad school, and hung it in the dining room of our tiny apartment, waiting for the day we’d own a home of our own. Now it’s in the entryway of our beautiful house!
