PAINT ME A PICTURE! My favorite piece of art is a watercolor my grandmother did of San Juan Capistrano. It always makes me think of the swallows who return there each year and how the passing of time always has an ebb and flow.

Right now we sadly don’t have anything on our walls. All the more reason we need this. My usual favorites are the drawings my fiancée makes though.

My favorite piece of art that I currently own is a king size quilt that my grandmother made me for my wedding. We picked out the fabrics together and it turned out to be the brightest and happiest quilt I have ever seen!

PAINT ME A PICTURE! I like to try to collect pieces from all the places I travel, and my favorite piece is a block print that I bought in New Orleans. It has a funny story too, because my wallet was stolen while I was there (horrors!) and my friends graciously let me borrow the cash I needed to buy the print I had been eying every time we walked by.

Paint Me a Picture!! I would have to say my favorite piece of one of a kind art would have to be my diploma from UNCW! I know it’s not art, but I worked hard for it and it’s now in a beautiful fram hanging above my bedroom door. Next to it is my nursing license – framed as well!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

I found a multi branch twig dangling from my roof, rescued it, spray painted it glossy white and added pastel blue muffin cups to all the tips to look like flowers. It has hung upside down from the ceiling as a mobile in a corner of my guest room, and now upright potted in a white IKEA planter in a living room. I love how everyone asks what it. One visitor thought it was a light fixture!

    Paint me a picture . . .

My favorite piece is an amateur oil painting my mother did of her childhood home in the mountains of West Virginia. That home is still in the family and the painting reminds me of wonderful time spent with my family there during summer vacations and holidays. My mother is no longer living, but I’ll always have this picture that she spent so much time painting and the memories of her and the other loved ones who gathered there.

{Paint Me a Picture} My favorite piece of art in our home is a simple lithograph of a woman by a Polish artist that we know nothing about, but keep hoping to research someday. We stumbled upon it in an antique store where we were shopping for a rug. We didn’t expect to buy our first piece of real art that day. It is bright orange. Love the color.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE

I can’t pick just one piece, my kids make the most beautiful paintings/colorings (of course!!) But I have a gorgeous painting I bought from an artist on Ebay a number of years ago of a mother holding her baby. It reminds me of the bond and love that lies there, especially when my kids are screaming at the top of their lungs, I can look at that painting and peace just washes over me.

I have 2 faves in 1. I did a painting on a huge canvas of a stark, (silhouette-like) coral “tree” and its shadow. I saw one like it on an expensive modern design shop’s website and sort of replicated it with interior wall paint and acrylic. When I need a change, I have a big piece of Marimekko fabric that I use to cover the coral painting/canvas. Presto, change-o!

PAINT ME A PICTURE! I love the painting we created for a super bare wall in our old apartment. It’s of one of my favorite places- the Baths in Virgin Gorda, BVI. It has lots of color and I think we did a great job. The only problem we now face- my parents are giving us one of their flat screens to replace our giant box TV and the space where that painting hangs will soon be replaced. Which piece of cheap art if going to have to go?
