Fab Freebie: Paint Me A Picture

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

We really like the color in all of Erica’s work, and we love that our winner will be able to guide the color and design of their custom work to fit their home perfectly. You can even pick the best size for your space (from a 12 x 9″ up to 16 x 20″). Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Not only do we have one winner, but everyone can get 10% off of anything from Studio Eriksdotter through Dec 9th. Use the code YOUNGHOUSELOVE for any stationery purchase in her Etsy shop or you can contact her directly for art inquiries.

And our very lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Ali Moore. Congrats!

I have found lots of great unique art in the Eastern Market craft area in Washington, DC being sold by the artist…I love buying direct from the artist and getting to interact with the person behind the brush, camera, etc.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE

my favourite piece of art is an oil painting of my childhood pony. My very first boyfriend painted it for me and gave it to me on our first Christmas together. Both boyfriend and pony are no longer in my life, but every time I look at the picture I see the kindness in ther eyes and it takes me back to the overhwhelming feelings of my first love, for both pony and boy :)

besides our photographs, we are definitely lacking in the ‘one-of-a-kind’ artwork category so we’d love to have something of our own!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My fav homemade art is the collection of pottery I made my senior year of college. A few of the pieces are pretty sweet, and the rest look good enough from a distance to be great accessories for filling in gaps in the bookcase and holding random mini bunches of flowers.

I also have a canvas waiting to become abstract art using leftover blue and green paint samples, but I just haven’t figured out what approach I want to take yet, so it is still only planned DIY art at this point.

PAINT ME A PICTURE….of my favorite artwork; the one from NOLA. A street vendor painted a block of wood with green in the background (hubby’s fav color), a couple in the black silhouette in the foreground and a street sign named ‘Crochet Ave’ (our last name)…we picked this painting up before we were engaged…yay for knowing true love when it hits your wallet :P

    “PAINT ME A PICTURE!”

My favorite picture came about to cover a big spot on the wall that a “photo collage” hanging didn’t go so well! So there were two canvases that I painted stripes of colour on with oil paint – and then added a silhouetted paper bird sitting on a branch, which I pressed on one side to leave a “ghost” bird and then glued onto the other side as a mirror image after it took on a speckly brown appearance from the oil paint :)

A friend of mine (since elementary school)is a very talented artist. And for as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted him to “PAINT ME A PICTURE”. We relocated to the U.S. last year and wanted a painting for our new home. After looking at many of his pieces, we finally selected one. It must have been fate that we decided on that particular one! The name of the piece is BEGINNINGS and marks the “beginning” of our life in a new country and home. It is our only piece of art and a favorit one indeed!!!

My favorite piece is an original painting I bought from a wonderful artist on Etsy. It’s a painting of a couple of birds on a wire and a lone bird on a separate wire (it was small and all I could afford)… I bought it when I was single because I felt that it spoke my heart. Now that I’ve married my wonderful hubby, it serves as a reminder to me to extend grace and love to my single friends because that was one of the hardest times of my life.
