***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

We really like the color in all of Erica’s work, and we love that our winner will be able to guide the color and design of their custom work to fit their home perfectly. You can even pick the best size for your space (from a 12 x 9″ up to 16 x 20″). Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Paint me a picture! Currently it’s a toss-up for my favorite piece of original art. I have a watercolor one of my sister’s high school friends did that reads “Mothers love their children more than fathers because they are sure they are their own” -always thought that was SO sweet…until I really thought about it. And there’s the 3 photo collage my best friend made of our dogs when she was dog-sitting & took them to the beach. It makes me smile EVERY time I walk past it.

PAINT ME A PICTURE!!! Please please please because my favorite (and will remain always in my house) is by my flower girl just before my wedding … she did a drawing of what she thought my husband and I would look like on our wedding day! Love it, but maybe need something more mature/fitting into the overall design scheme :)

I mostly have original pieces of art around hand drawn by my 5th grade students. Teachers get pretty pictures all the time — one of the perks, however, something a bit more sophisticated could be nice. I’m still trying to grow into my newly married 25 year old self. We WILL decorate like grown ups soon…ish.

Most of the artwork in my house right now are photographs of my family and my daughter’s artwork from school. The most special piece right now is a photo of a pumpkin she painted. She was swirling all the colors together to make gray and at first glance it looked awful, but I took a picture anyway and it looks like something I paid a lot of money for!!!! Definitely one-of-a-kind.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

I have a picture I painted in 11th grade art class of the beach and some jagged rocks. It was in my closet at my parents house for years, until I moved in with my then boyfriend where it relocated to another closet. When we got married and moved, he saw it getting packed away and loved it. He insisted we hang it up and I get compliments about it almost everyday. His love for it made me appreciate it and I love having it hanging finally.

My favorite one of a kind art work that I own is an original piece by a local young woman named Gretchen Slentz. She is amazingly talented. She painted it and sold it to us when she was just a teenager at a local art show. She cried when she sold it to us. It’s name is Moonbrains, and her style is inspired by central american folk art.
