***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

We really like the color in all of Erica’s work, and we love that our winner will be able to guide the color and design of their custom work to fit their home perfectly. You can even pick the best size for your space (from a 12 x 9″ up to 16 x 20″). Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Not only do we have one winner, but everyone can get 10% off of anything from Studio Eriksdotter through Dec 9th. Use the code YOUNGHOUSELOVE for any stationery purchase in her Etsy shop or you can contact her directly for art inquiries.

And our very lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Ali Moore. Congrats!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!!

My favorite piece of art is actually the first “art” I ever purchased- it’s a photo of the three fates. I love it, and love that I got to support a student artist even more!

I like to pick up artwork during my foreign travels and support the local artists. Favorite now is an oil canvas abstract of fishermen boats purchased in Hoi An, Vietnam.

My face painting is one my younger brother did in his junior year of high school. It’s a red rose, and it’s gorgeous. I can’t believe a boy did it :)

My favorite piece of artwork is an abstract painting of the Crucifixion that I saw at a shop in Savannah. I couldn’t get it out of my mind, so I ended up calling the shop and having it shipped to me in Florida.

Current favorite is a sketch of my grandparent’s home that was lost in a fire in the 1960’s. My dad discovered it in my grandmother’s things and had it framed and gifted it to me last year.

Sadly, I don’t have any great, one-of-a-kind artwork. But commissioning a piece of art has been on my to-do list since I realized even people without a trust fund could do it.

we have an overhead fan running in our bedroom at all times. In order to change the setting, there’s a pullstring and I wanted something sturdy affixed to it. I found an amazing periwinkle “sailboat” made of stained glass in an outdoor crafts festival. I LOVE it!

My favorite piece of art is a picture I had made for my husband for our 1st anniversary (done on paper as per tradition, then framed). The image was taken from a photo I took in Venice of an old couple walking arm-in-arm down the street, thats what we want to be in 50 years.

My favorite pieces of art in our home are the pictures I took of the places we dates before we married. Chicago, a trip to visit family in Oregon, and Stevens Point, Wi, where we went to college. We enlarge them and framed them all over the house.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My favourite piece of art …. so hard to choose! I painted a piece myself last year that is about 30 by 30 (pretty big) and is all shades of blue. moves from almost white at the top down to almost black. I wrote the quote “live beautifully, dream passionately, love completely” in the bottom left corner and it hangs in my bedroom. I got so many compliments and requests I ended up painting 3 for friends!

I am moving this weekend to a new space and have a huge wall screaming for a new painting! Great giveaway!

My favorite piece of art is a carving my husband and I got in Mexico on our honeymoon. We bartered for it in a flea market and less than a year later we were living in Mexico!

We now are back in the States, but that picture is a fun reminder of how naive we were about the path our lives were going to take.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

Currently, my favorite is a DIY that was made from a piece of scrap wood (probably 3′ x 6′) already stained a dark brown. We covered the whole thing with contact paper, traced out an image of three bare winter trees, and used a craft knife to remove the rest of the paper. Then we painted over the whole thing in white paint. Once we lifted up the contact paper we had the image of three dark-stained trees on a rustic white background. I love it.

However, I think it’s going to have some serious image issues if we win this prize. Those paintings are gorgeous!! :)

I made two graphic 11.5 x 11.5 pieces using Adobe In Design that I have hanging (in super large square frames) over a picture ledge in my room. I love them because I got exactly what I was looking for in exactly the colors I wanted.

My other favorite isn’t actually in my house, but I gave it to a friend – it’s an acrylic painting of a photograph I took of a meat/cheese/wine shop at the San Lorenzo mercado in Florence, Italy.
