  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

PAINT ME A PICTURE! My husbands uncle is an artist and although his work isn’t really my style, we do have one large piece of work from him that I love. It’s an abstract piece of a piano and guitar, hanging in our family room.

My favorite piece of art is a painting that my husband and I had done by a street vendor on our honeymoon. It is beautiful by itself, but it was also fascinating to watch it get done and a wonderful reminder of our trip as well.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My favorite piece of one-of-a-kind art is also the first real piece of “art” that I ever bought. It was painted by my former roommate’s friend… she does layers and layers of brush strokes on canvas. The end result is amazing. Mine has pink, red, orange, gold, black and white brush strokes and it’s gorgeous!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My favourite piece of art is a watercolour painting I bought at an auction a couple of years ago by mistake. As in you know, I made a low offer for fun, thinking that *obviously* someone else is going to actually make a serious one. But no-one did and it’s now hanging in my bedroom! The actual piece is a beautiful painting of two deers, a stag and a doe peering through some forest foliage, in the softest greens and browns imaginable. I love it because of the story of how I got it and the calming motif and colour palette.

Paint me a picture! I just got a 12X12 original linocut print of an octopus from Etsy, and I really love it! It was a present to my husband for our first wedding anniversary this month. We got married in Hawaii last year, just the two of us, and we joked to people that our wedding was “Predators of the Sea” themed. Cue the octopi, squid, shark, and jellies!

PAINT ME A PICTURE!!! We have no real artwork in our apartment except for pictures of our wedding that we framed and hung all over the place. We also took some gorgeous shots of some of the places we went on our one year anniversary cruise and I framed them. I always love capturing the moment.

I bought myself a block print by a local artist when I was in Scotland this summer as my souvenir. I love the print and it reminds me of a great trip.

we recently framed a felix gonazales torres poster we picked up at the walker art museum in minneapolis. it was part of the exhibit and, in that sense, isn’t one-of-a-kind. but i like imagining all the unique one-of-a-kind ways people displayed this token of a great artist.

Paint me a picture! We are renovating our little bungalow in Mt. Pleasant, SC. My favorite “pictures” are of the beautiful, curvy live oak trees we have here and the marsh grass at sunset. The light as it hits the water making it a gorgeous, vivid blue, the black palmetto tree silhouettes, the golden marsh grass and the fiery sky behind it-no words can describe how beautiful it is.

I love original artwork, but I don’t love being broke, so though I’m not an artist, most of the “artwork” on our walls was created by me. I’m fond of a colorful mixed media piece I made. It uses canvas, paint, and terracotta clay. I used clay to make a basic square frame, spelled out LOVE using pieces of clay, glued everything onto the canvas and painted the whole thing. I’m not describing it well, but it’s very colorful and quirky.

My favorite original artwork I own would probably be the photo my cousin took of my bed with my stuffed animals on it. It just makes me smile because it reminds me of my happy place.

My favorite non-original artwork I own is probably my “Uprisings” print by kozyndan: http://www.kozyndan.com/art/uprisings

I like it because from far away it looks like a traditional Japanese picture of a wave…until you get up close and see the bunnies hidding in the waves.
