The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

PAINT ME A PICTURE! My favorite piece of orginal artwork is a painting my husband’s aunt painted for us. I fell in love with a painting at a fancy gallery. We took a picture of it and emailed it to her and she recreated it and gave it to us for Christmas last year!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My favorite one-of-a-kind artwork is a picture of a bat. My husband is a graphic designer, and before we were officially dating, we had a run-in with a baby bat in an apartment hallway. “Batty” is a super-cute cartoon bat with a pink heart for a nose. It’s a great story and even better image. =)

Paint me a picture! My current favorite one of a kind art is one I painted myself. It’s the story of how my husband and I met, painted in tiny letters in different colors. I can’t read most of it, but every once in a while if I stare at it long enought I can find the names/places/song lyrics that I painted on there 5 years ago.

Bonus question: A portrait of me and my husband by Ashley Goldberg via ashleyganddrew.com.

I gave it to my husband as a 4th wedding anniversary gift. We always do traditional gifts to each other and Ashley included Ranunculus flowers (like what I had in my bouquet) for the traditional gift of flowers/fruit. Love love love it!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My favorite art piece on my walls is a portrait I did of my angel grandmother when she passed away. She was in her nineties when she passed, but the graphite portrait I did was from a picture taken of her at about 20 years old–she’s just gorgeous. The portrait was used at the funeral and displayed near her coffin, and producing it was a therapy-session for me– a way to remember her and a way to say “until we meet again.”

PAINT ME A PICTURE! To put a punch of color on the wall, I used a slew of Brazilian “bonfim” bracelets and essentially decoupaged them to a canvas. It makes me miss the beach every time I pass it…and the random vendor who would yell “pineapple!” while waving a machete (to cut the pineapples with of course).
