Fab Freebie: Paint Me A Picture

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

Eriksdotter Skyline

Eriksdotter Grey Petals

We really like the color in all of Erica’s work, and we love that our winner will be able to guide the color and design of their custom work to fit their home perfectly. You can even pick the best size for your space (from a 12 x 9″ up to 16 x 20″). Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

Not only do we have one winner, but everyone can get 10% off of anything from Studio Eriksdotter through Dec 9th. Use the code YOUNGHOUSELOVE for any stationery purchase in her Etsy shop or you can contact her directly for art inquiries.

And our very lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Ali Moore. Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Studio Eriksdotter.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE

Almost everything in our house was either painted by me or is a photo one of us took. We do have some apple crate labels and some framed scrabook paper, but other than that everything is “one of a kind.” I like it all, but I guess a favorite would be hand-painted plates a friend brought back from Mexico

My favorite piece of art is a three-piece canvas painting I created years ago to hang over our bed. I decided I couldn’t afford the pricey canvas sets I was seeing in the stores, so I opted for some home-made abstract art. I still love it to this day!

I wish I could describe an amazing piece of art that my husband and I own but the only prized possession hanging on our walls is a canvas print of our favorite wedding picture. We just moved into a new house and have TONS of wall space to fill but no art yet. We would love to have a big, colorful painting to put in our family room. Thanks for posting such a great giveaway and congrats on the new house!!!

I have lots of art that I love in our home, from originals by local artists, things I’ve found on vacation, to prints galore! But some of my own work is the most special… I was an art major in college and I’ve never quite gotten back to that place in my work. It’s a bummer!

Since we moved into this house in the summer we have only hung one art piece in the bedroom/office and it is one I painted for my husband’s birthday of a crow. Somewhat tiny but he loves it so I get a kick out of it.

My favourite piece of ‘artwork’ is something that I did myself. I used some of my favourite lyrics, found a font, typed it, printed it, then traced it all pretty and brightly onto some paper (always think things look better when you can tell they’re handmade rather than printed!) It says:

‘The sun is in the sky and it is gonna be a glorious day!’

I put it next to my mirror so that I see it every morning and it gives me a positive attitude for the day! ^.^

PAINT ME A PICTURE! My absolutely favorite piece of art in our house is a huge charcoal piece made by my husband in college. It is a sort of interpretation of music and I absolutely love it. It is both taller and wider than me, but if God forbid we had a fire, I would probably try to carry it out on my back because it would break my heart to lose it.

I think the only one-of-a-kind piece I own is a cross-stitch piece made by a lady I have known all my life. Cross stitch really isn’t my style, so to speak, but she modeled it after a Norman Rockwell painting called “Young Love.” It was done completely by hand with no pattern at all. Gotta admire that kind of talent!
