I enlarged some of the photos I took on my honeymoon in Italy and hung them in our family room, now we get a dose of Italy every day!

My favourite piece of art is one I’ve recently created. It’s a shadowbox containing a silver spoon and the little box it came in as well as an old black and white picture. This silver spoon was given to my boyfriends grand-mother when she was a young girl in Finland. It was the `trophy` for a ski event she participated in. The box has her name, her hometown and some Finn language on it. When my boyfriend lost his grandmother last April. I thought this would be a perfect way to honor her.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My favorite one-of-a-kind artwork is a piece done by my high school photography teacher given to me and my husband on our wedding day. :) This teacher is the one who inspired me to become a high school photography teacher, so it means a lot to me! :)

I found this awesome one-of-a-kind sculpture/painting/drawing at a garage sale. it was priced at $250 but I got it for $100. The sellers liked the fact that I was an art student so knew that i’d take good care of it (it was big by the way, i’m talking like 4ftx4ft at least). The artist was a friend of the current owners, and the artist sold the piece to him at coast ($400). 25 years ago it hung in the Milwaukee Art Museum!!! The only reason it was for sale was because the owners were selling their home and their stuff and moving to a cottage in the north-woods of Wisconsin.
I was able to contact the artist and he sent me a certificate of authenticity and shared a little about what the piece meant to him. Right now it’s sitting in storage in my parents attic. But in 6 months I’ll be graduated and moving into my own place and can show it off :)

I have a beautiful piece of artwork from an unknown but talented artist from the Midwest. He painted several scenes of my undergraduate alma-mater.

My favorite piece of artwork is one that my husband bought before we were even together. It is a colorful painting of a man playing a sax…and it’s awesome because it’s painted on an ceiling tile from an old factory.

    “PAINT ME A PICTURE!”

I love art and I love to draw. My fave piece I actually gave away. I have a friend who travels all over the world and where ever he goes he sends me a post card. As a thank you gift I did a chalk drawing inspired by one of the post cards.

My favorite personalized, hand-made art is a framed, detailed copy of our B&W wedding invitation. A friend of a friend works on the surrounding matte, creating whimsical 3-D art inspired by the invitation itself. Pretty neat!

PAINT ME A PICTURE! Just this weekend, I finished our mural of the Chicago skyline in one corner of our guest room, also known as “my happy place.” It’s just four buildings, painted in a silvery gray on the turquoise wall, but it looks fabulous (even if I’m the one saying this).

Mine is a tea towel of the Bayeux Tapestry. I got it on a school trip in the early 90’s. It was purely a tourist item until my mom had it framed for us several years ago – professionally matted and framed, it’s now a one-of-a-kind “tapestry” in our living room.

My most treasured piece of art is a set of three canvases that my wife made for me shortly after we started dating. She used Mod Podge to affix some cool multi textured earth color paper to the canvas. It was the first piece of original artwork I owned, and will always be the most important. To this day it hangs above our TV.
