***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

We really like the color in all of Erica’s work, and we love that our winner will be able to guide the color and design of their custom work to fit their home perfectly. You can even pick the best size for your space (from a 12 x 9″ up to 16 x 20″). Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My favorite piece of art is an abstract painting by my brother-in-law. After he and my sister visited me in San Francisco, he took to canvas to paint his impression of the city by the bay. The painting uses bright colors which fit my personality and is titled “San Francisco on a Bright Sunny Day” featuring my favorite landmark – the Golden Gate Bridge!

My favorite piece of art is an old framed sketch of a lonely tree in a desert. It was the first piece of art that my parents bought together when they were first married, young and broke. I have it hanging in my kitchen and it makes me so happy to look at it.

My absolute favorite piece of art in our house is a blown up print of a digital collage created by my husband during his graphic designer days. It is contemporary, with shades of blue, silver, black and light browns. The hubby blew it up and got it framed for my 30th birthday!

I worked for a photography gallery and when we closed, the artist gifted me with many of the prints (so lucky and so very thankful). My fav is an 18×20 print of a lone tree blowing in the wind, in middle of a snow storm…beautiful and peaceful.

    Paint me a picture!

My grandmother did a lot of watercolor painting when I was young, and one of those got passed down to me. It’s of a woman and her two small children walking through a field. It’s not my artistic style, but of course it makes me happy for its sentimental value.

    Paint me a picture!

When I was a kid I found an old sketchbook full of my father’s drawings and woodcut prints. I “stole” a woodcut prints of a damselfly that he had done (number 4 of 5) and framed it when I bought a house. It’s my most treasured piece of art, especially because it’s really very good and my father never once mentioned that he was an artist!
