***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

The winner of this week’s giveaway can literally make that request. Because Swedish-born Virginia-based artist Erica Eriksdotter is giving away a commissioned painting worth up to $350. That’s right everyone, put on your fancy pants because soon you could be telling your friends smugly “oh yeah, that beautiful painting over there? I commissioned it.”

We really like the color in all of Erica’s work, and we love that our winner will be able to guide the color and design of their custom work to fit their home perfectly. You can even pick the best size for your space (from a 12 x 9″ up to 16 x 20″). Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A commissioned painting from Studio Eriksdotter worth up to $350
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME A PICTURE!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork that you currently own. Maybe it’s a finger painting done by a kid in your life? Something you got on etsy? Or a drawing that you sketched yourself to fill some blank space?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 24th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States, Canada and Europe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

I don’t have any orginal paintings but do have some photos. Our favorites are old family b&w photos from the turn of the century and then some around WWII.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My parents bought me this huge piece of art that I had been drooling over at Value City Furniture. It’s basically a large square frame full of circular stone tiles painted in aquas, greens, and taupes. When I opened the box, many of the tiles had fallen off. Instead of gluing them back in their original grid-like pattern, I decided to make a more scattered version. I guess that makes it one of a kind?

    “PAINT ME A PICTURE”

My favorite one of a kind art is a painting I found at thrift store. It is a back view of a spanish matador in his jacket. I hate the sport but the detail and colors are a great pop of color.

Most of our “art” is pictures that we have taken on our travels. I am in the midst of commissioning a landscape painting of my husband’s childhood vacation spot as a christmas gift…I was inspired by your bee painting and tracked someone on etsy myself!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

I have a giant chinese take out box made out of sheet metal that a friend of mine made in college. I “commissioned” it. One day we were at the gym and she said what should I make out of sheet metal for sculpture class, and I said how about a chinese take out box! Now it’s a great conversation piece in our living room.

My favorite piece of orginal art (well, almost original) is a screen print poster of a piano for the group Bon Iver…it’s only one of 25 made. Lead singer Justin Vernon signed it for me and I love it dearly.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

My favorite piece of artwork in our house is a set of 4 nautical-themed sepia and brown photographs that I took myself down in Annapolis MD. It fits our space perfectly and it’s even better because I did it myself (which means it was very affordable!)

My favorite piece of artwork we had is a vintage-looking picture we had done for our wedding. It looks like an old 1950s advertisement and we had it hanging at the entrance to our reception and now it’s hanging in our living room. But we wouldn’t mind adding some more custom art to our home!

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

I was an interior design major in college and took a water color painting class as an elective. I thought it would be very relaxing, but I was very wrong. I nearly failed the class! I cannot paint with water colors to save my life. A couple of my paintings are actually viewable so those are my most prized works of art.

PAINT ME A PICTURE! My favorite piece of art is a framed watercolor painting of some hibiscus that my grandmother gave me for my graduation present for my graduate degree. It’s currently hanging in my office, and I think of her whenever I see it. When I was little, I used to love seeing hibiscus – we’d see them all the time when I’d visit her in South Florida. It’s always been our “thing”, and it’s so special to have a daily memory of her.

I love all the artwork my 4 1/2 year old does, especially a huge rainbow colored fingerpaint one that I have hanging in the playroom. I also own a one of a kind picture made by a dear friend of mine who is an incredible artist who gave it to me for my wedding present. I think it is made using pastels and it is called “Tree of Hearts”.

It’s actually a picture my daughter drew with pastels in first grade. It’s a still life of a vase and candlestick in front of a window, and I still look at it and am just amazed by how talented she was (is) at such a young age!
