PAINT ME A PICTURE! We currently have two family originals, one by me and one by my husband hanging in our bedroom. They are abstracts and add some great color to our room. Every time I see them I’m reminded of how anyone can be an artist.

PAINT ME A PICTURE! My favorite are 2 collages I made out a scrapbook paper for our kids bathroom. Originally, they said His and Hers and they were over their towel hooks. Then we had another boy so I changed it to Splish and Splash. I have lots more ideas for original artwork, but who has the time.

My favorite piece of art would have to be either the shadow box with our wedding stationery and bouquet pin or the two 11×14 canvases I recently painted (a compass and an anchor to represent my husband’s Navy career)!

My favorite piece of art is a painting that my late uncle did while he was making a living as an actor/artist in New York. It hung in the apartment of a family friend until he passed away 2 years ago and it was given to me. It is a gorgeous painting of a young/glamourous Elizabeth Taylor, whom I was told was a good friend of my uncle’s back in the day. Pretty amazing discovery!

To toot my own horn for a moment, I think my favorite piece thus far is a photo I took last year. It’s a silhouette of a bird that was perched in the big maple tree in our front yard taken just past dusk. I did a little bit of post processing on it on my computer to give it a vignette and I was really pleased with the outcome.

My favorite piece of art was painted by a man my age who lives nearby. He used to work at my favorite indie coffee shop and make comicbooks about his life. His paintings are cartoonish and bright, full of color and they always make me smile. It meant so much to me when I saw him at an art show and he called my name and gave me a big hug. Supporting my friends’ creative endeavors means so much to me, and having beautiful art in my home is just the icing on the cake.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!!

this is an easy one. for my boyfriend’s birthday after we had been dating about a year i “commisioned” a recent art-school graduate to paint him a guitar painting. she took my vision above and beyond and created a unique masterpiece — a collage painting on canvas of an acoustic guitar. the best part? the collage portion was created through the use of the pages of rolling stone. when you get up close and look beyond the paint you can see bits and pieces of the different pages. today it hangs above our piano and we both still love it! oh, and it was super cheap. we were proud to help a talented friend build her portfolio!
