Those are so beautiful! My current favorite is a picture that I took one day at work…we noticed a weird glow over everything outside and went out and looked up – there were some very strange and awesome clouds in real deep reds and oranges…I blew it up to a 22 x 28 and hung it on my wall.

    PAINT ME A PICTURE!

When I got engaged, my favorite professor/voice teacher gave me a print of a painting her husband had done for the Seattle Symphony performance of Tristan and Isolde. It is a very romantic painting and I had it custom framed. It is still my favorite piece of art because it reminds me of that special time.

My husband draws little stick figure cartoons for me depicting different moments or scenarios from our “courtship-” everything from how we met to how I asked him out. I frame them and post them all over because 1) they’re hilarious, and 2) they’re the best looking stick figures I’ve ever seen. Very artistic.

I enjoy your blog, by the way! Happy Thanksgiving all.

My favourite is a wide, sepia photograph of a snow-covered Charles Bridge at dusk with Prague Castle in the background. I bought it from a vendor on the bridge so it’s no doubt NOT original, but it’s wonderfully moody and it reminds me of my first magical trip to Prague. :)

my (current) favorite piece of original artwork in our house isn’t a painting, but a pair of statues we bought from a local artist while on our honeymoon in new zealand – one is a husband and wife embracing and the other is a mother and baby. we love them because they’re a modern touch in an otherwise (mostly) traditional space, and they just mean so much to us.

    Paint Me A Picture!

My favorite piece of art so far was a piece I bought years ago from my church that was not originally intended to be for sale. It was completed using 5 or 6 different paintbrushes at a time, within minutes, in front of a live audience by a local graphic designer. It was done on a framed 8′ x 16′ piece of plywood with bold acrylic paints. As his wife read from the scripture he painted an image of Mary the miraculous moment she was conceived with the Christ Child. The painting was installed in my home during construction since it did not fit through any framed door. It was in my living room area for many years and brought about much great conversation. Over the years the design of the room has changed and the art did not fit as well. I have been searching for something to take its place for a very long time with no luck. Hence, the wide walls and tall ceilings have been bare awaiting something that gives the area as much personality. The drama and color combinations of artist Erica Eriksdotter works reminds me of my once favorite work of art.
