Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

Ooh! Shiny! Like many above I wear my engagement and wedding ring every day, but I also wear a ring my husband gave me when we were still in high school! Other than that I always have earrings in!

My now husband gave me a ring on our one year anniversary back when we were dating a billion years ago. It’s a white gold band with 10 tiny diamonds and isn’t worth much (cost about $100 at the time) but I haven’t taken it off since he gave it to me and now it’s just become part of me. I don’t even notice it anymore. It may not be worth much but it’s one of the most sentimental things I own.

I’m an engineer so I wear the official “Iron Ring” on my right pinky finger that most engineers wear. I worked really hard through school to get to where I am now so wearing that ring is a good reminder of the importance of ambition and drive for me. OOH, SHINY!! I always wear a bracelet that has ‘hope’ stamped on it, it has a special meaning to me and reminds me to keep hope during the fertilty treatments me and my husband are going through! And of course I always wear my wedding ring!

The only thing I wear EVERY every day, is my wedding ring. It’s a simple white gold band – and it’s actually my husband’s engagement ring. We discovered that we wear the same ring size, so we exchanged rings at the ceremony.
I usually wear simple hoop earrings, but they get switched out every now and then.

OOH SHINY! I wear the same ring (not precious) every day. I found it in the yard at school when I was thirteen and um ‘forgot’ to hand it in to the janitor. I have bought many (non precious)rings since, and they have all got broken or lost, but this little silver one with a tiny blue stone just stays with me through thick and thin.

I wear a ring my boyfriend and I bought together on the flea market, I wanted it but I didn’t have enough money to buy it alone and he neither, so we both put our last money in this ring (not that much…). Sounds not very romantic, well it wasn’t, but for me it has a romantic meaning…It’s a little silver one with 4 little blue saphirs in it, I just love it! And I wear one that once belonged to my grandmother and than my mother and now me, this one certainly has more history but I love both!

I wear my wedding ring and band as well as a pair of small diamond earrings that my husband gave to me. The best part is that they have screw on backs so I will never lose them off my ears. I love my thoughtful husband!
