Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

Ohh shiny! On most (but not all) days I wear the classic Tiffany’s bean… but this one my dad gave to my mom in the before they were married! It is a little chunkier than its contemporary bean, but I love it that much more.

I wear my rings every day – I never ever take them off. I have a gold clauddaugh (sp?) ring given to me by my parents in 7th grade on my right-hand ring finger and a silver ring that I bought at American Eagle a while ago on the left hand. (People are always thinking that the American Eagle one is an engagement/wedding/special boyfriend gift and I always laugh when I tell them that it was less than $20 and I bought it for myself!)

My longest running piece of wear everyday jewelery would have to be a silver bangle bracelet from my mom with 4 beads on it- for me, the 4th daughter. As you can imagine, the 1st daughter has 1 bead, the 2nd- 2, the 3rd- 3 and the 5th- 5. I think I’m the only one who wears it everyday, though. Then there’s the wedding ring and diamond earrings that hubbie gave me when we found out we were pregnant. You’d think they would be sentimental enough, but, no, it’s my charm necklace with the 2 boys initials- P & D- because my 3 year old knows “Mommy wears the D because she loves me!”

I opted for a simple, thin, white gold band so we would have money for other needs. Although we can afford a fancier ring now, I don’t want one. I say my/a because I recently had to have some work done on my own ring, and I felt “nekkid”, so I wore a simple sterling band that I’ve had since I was preggers (and I swelled up like….something that swells). My own ring is a combo of my own white gold wide band and my mom’s engagement ring updated with the diamond my hub picked for me! I’m a sentimental gal.
