Fab Freebie: Oooh, Shiny

Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!

Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).

The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:

And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

    I wear my wedding set everyday and my little sterling silver dachshund necklace my husband got me for our two year anniversary, my Ruby goes with me everywhere!
    Her and Burger would make a cute couple…just sayin’

    OHHH SHINY!!! I wear my weddings bands, engagement ring, and an amethyst ring that my husband has gotten me. My husband picked out my engagement ring and weddings bands by himself and they mean so much to me :-)

    I have several items I wear daily. Other than my wedding and engagement ring, I usually wear the diamond studs my mom gave me when I graduated college, and the silver “promise” ring my husband gave me after we had been dating for 6 months (we were 18 at the time).

    OOOH SHINY! You had better bet I wear my wedding ring set every day. I didn’t when I was too pregnant to fit into it and my beautiful 10-year old sapphire and diamond engagement ring was stolen from the depths of my closet (yes, we’re talking DEEP!) while our home was open for sale. I cried for days. And then life had to move on. I also can’t leave the house without earrings adorning my lobes. Why? Dunno. Shiny is as shiny does.

    I wear a silver ring on my thumb that my boyfriend got for me our first Christmas. I don’t know if it was meant to be a thumb ring, but it’s too big for my other fingers.

    “OOOH SHINY!” Pretty much everyday (unless I forget to put my jewelry on!) I wear my wedding ring, wedding band, an amethyst and diamond ring my parents gave me for my 21st birthday and a silver chain with a single pearl pendant that used to be my mom’s.

    My wedding ring and band, as well as a locket my hubby got me and an initial that hangs with the locket in memory of our son who passed away.

    I wear my wedding & engagement ring everyday. It’s taken me almost 20 years to branch out to more jewelry though – like seeing other people wear it, but don’t like it on myself so much. I do have a pair of capiz dangle-type earrings that I love and would probably wear everyday if they went with everything! Thanks!

    I wear my wedding rings and a religious ring everyday. With two kids under four jewelry is an occupational hazard. When I dress up for dates or the occasional girls night out I’ll add a necklace or earrings. I love things that shine. I hope I win!

    We had family jewelry that was never worn anymore (my parents engagement ring, my great grandma’s wedding ring, earrings from first bf, etc). For my college graduation, my mom and I talked to a local jeweler and had a right-hand ring made from them. I wear it every day!

    Anyway, I wear two things my wedding ring, and a claddagh ring (no, i’m not irish). Both of my sisters have one and they also wear it everyday, definitely a great reminder that we’ll always be family and there for each other.

    I am a jewelry slut and wear a ton everyday, but the one item that never changes (besides the wedding rings) is a chunky men’s diving watch I stole from my husband. The face is as big as my wrist, but I still feel feminine when I wear it.
