Fab Freebie: Oooh, Shiny

Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!

Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).

The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:

And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

    I definitely wear my wedding ring every day. And would covet any other bling- I’m very pregnant and need a little sparkle to my daily life!

    OOOH SHINY! I always wear the celtic know ring that my mom bought me when I was 12, will probably wear it till a certian someone gets up the gumption to ask and replaces it with an engagment ring!

    My wedding rings, my mom’s old wedding band and 2 bracelets–one that my parents gave me when I graduated from college, and one my in-laws gave me when I had my son (7 months ago).

    I don’t wear any jewelry every day, not even my wedding ring. I lost my first one and got out of the habit of putting it on. I have a new one now but I always forget to wear it around the house.

    I wear my pearl earrings ALMOST every day (sometimes I like to be fun and switch them out). But I wear a ring from James Avery every day. I got it when I was in middle school and I sleep in it, shower in it, swim in it, etc.

    I have a silver ring from my grandmother and some silver earrings from my aunt that I wear almost every day. Both have passed on and even though the pieces are probably not real silver, I love them just the same. :)

    I “wear” a memorial tattoo of my parents on my foot (they’re always walking with me) and a smile (the best way I can honor them) every day.

    I always wear a ring made out of my grandparents wedding rings, sort of welded together. I love how it looks and most of all, what it represents.

    Oooooh Shiny!!!! I wear my “Mom” locket proudly! It holds the photo of my very sweet little peanut! My husband purchased it for me for Christmas before the birth of our first child. I will treasure it forever!

    I wear my wedding ring every day, it’s the only piece of jewelry I wear consistently. Although I love to get dolled up once in awhile, and add a necklace and some earrings. : )

    I wear my wedding and engagement ring daily…my engagement ring is made up of diamonds from my great-grandma’s ring that we had re-set (white gold), and my wedding ring was designed by a friend’s mom & dad…it has a tiny version of my husband’s birthstone (alexandrite), and says in Hebrew “I am to my beloved as my beloved is to me.”

    The item I wear every day is a heart necklace that my boyfriend gave me on our first Christmas together. It’s been 5 years now and I think I’ve only taken it off twice :)

    OOH SHINY! I always have on a pair of little silver hoop earrings. I change them out for special occasions, but they are pretty much an everyday thing. Definitely time for some bling!

    I wear my wedding ring every day. I also have a filigree gold watch that I wear often. It’s more like a bracelet than a watch.

    OOOH SHINY!!! I don’t wear it everyday, but my go-to piece of jewelry is my opal necklace that my Aunt bought me in Australia. I went to visit her in Australia after I graduated from high school. Good trip :D

    For the past 3 yrs I have been wearing this turquoise ring I bought during a fun day with the family. I absolutely love it and get all kinds of compliments. It’s became on my signatures. :)
