Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

I wear my engagement ring and wedding band everyday! The wedding band was my grandmothers so it is so special to me. It was my parents wedding gift to me before the wedding. I also wear earrings that were gifts from my family, diamond studs, emerald hoops, gold love knots. I don’t wear costume jewelry so everyday i put on my earrings and think of the person that gifted them to me! Its very special!

“OOOH SHINY!” I wear a Rado watch everyday that my husband gave me after finishing and earning 3rd place in my first Ironman distance triathlon. It took me almost 13 hours! He was so proud of me. It was at the end of summer and after training hard and working sometimes 75 hour work weeks I was tickled he took so much pride in my accomplishment.
I also wear a PowerStatement Bracelet made more then 3 years ago by the younger gymnast/athletes that I coach. Its made out of plastic beads and reads, “Patience.” They created the bracelets as a form of mental toughness training for themselves, their sport and life. They made one for me. I only take it off when I need to loan it to an athlete having a rough time. I love it!

Ooooh, SHINY!! I wear my engagement/wedding rings daily (engraved with “Forever” — had to get it in writing, LOL!!) but then I have to add something shiny on the OTHER hand so it doesn’t feel left out! Either a garnet ring I bought when I was young & single (and that fits my finger again — finally!) or a handcrafted set of glass bead bracelets from my friend Laure. Or one of the inherited rings from my mom or my grandmas. It all depends on my mood and who is on my mind that day.
I try NOT to wear a watch every single day! Only on a “Need to Know” basis, LOL.

I typically where 3 items daily. One is a gold ring with a single diamond that my now-husband gave me after we’d been dating for one year, the other my wedding band & engagement ring, and finally a tiny gold necklace that my sister gave to me, which is so small I hardly know I am wearing it and is great ’cause I can layer other fun, not so precious jewelry with it – like some lovelies from towne & reese and erin mcdermott! :)

Almost every day I wear a necklace with a pendant shaped like a drop that I got from my boyfriend on our first anniversary.
