Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

I only have one item that I wear every single day – my wedding band. Occasionally I take it off for a few hours when doing a house project, and my hand feels so strange without it.

I wear my wedding band every day. I also wear a watch that I purchased on a trip to Europe with my mom in 1997, after working and saving up the entire summer for that watch. My mom has since passed away, so the watch has extra-special memories.

I wish I had something I wore everyday. I horrible about wearing my wedding band since having children. I would say I wear my wedding band almost everyday. I would love to have a necklace I wore all the time- waiting for something meaningful though.

I wear two things every day; one is my beautiful heirloom wedding ring set, and the other is a set of garnet earrings that my Mother in Law gave me on our wedding day. They, too, are vintage–her father bought them for her mother for their wedding. I was so touched that my MIL shared this piece of family jewelery with me; my Husband loved his Grandfather so much and every time either he or I look at my earrings, we both think of the long and happy marriage his Grandparents shared. It’s a reminder for us to appreciate each other every day!

Not married, but I do wear two rings everyday. One that my sister gave me for my birthday years and years ago. I was trying to figure out just how long I’ve been wearing it, but lost count. I am wearing it in my high school graduation pictures though (I’m in graduate school now!).
And the other ring I found at the bottom of a lake while scuba diving.

Ooh, shiny! I wear my Tag watch, which was my 40 birthday present from my hubby, my wedding set, and my diamond earrings, which were my very first dating gift from my hubby, every day. Most days I throw in my charm bracelet which is in the process of being filled by my hubby and 4 y.o. for any gifting occasion.

When I finished up my dissertation my parents bought me a tiny pair of diamond earrings that I wear every single day in my second set of piercings that I got with my mom. I see jewellery as the primary way to accessorize but changing out two sets of earrings everyday is a bit much so the earrings my parents gifted me are perfect!

Ooh shiny!! I wear my 8 string flat knot lacy looking hemp bracelet I made a few months ago. It was meant to be something that you can take off, but I forgot that hemp shrinks a little when it gets wet so now I can’t get it off my wrist. Not that I really mind though. It’s nice looking and matches everything I wear.

The only pieces of jewelry I wear every day are my engagement and wedding rings. Everything else I switch up often, and 90% of it probably came from Forever 21. I’m a teacher, so my bling budget doesn’t really allow for much more than that. :-)
