Fab Freebie: Oooh, Shiny

Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!

Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).

The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:

And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

    I have two different necklaces that I alternate, but I have one of them on everyday. One is a molded silver Virgin Mary with some green and blue inlaid. It was my mom’s and I love it. I always get compliments. The other is a pocket watch necklace that my boyfriend bought for me when we first started dating. Love them both!

    I wear my wedding rings, my sapphire right hand ring, and my watch every day. Change up the necklace & earrings (and underwear) a lot.

    OOOH SHINY! I wear my engagement ring and wedding band, and a pair of diamond hoop earrings that I bought myself after a particularly long work project – and just because I deserved them.

    Oooh, shiny! I’m in the wedding and engagement ring club, but I also usually wear a tiny gold heart necklace and gold hoops.

    The only thing I really wear every day are my glasses. But they are pretty! So almost like jewelry. And the other things I wear when leaving the house (I work from home, so that doesn’t always happen) are a bracelet my best friend gave me and earrings (those vary).

    I love geology and feel just plain nekked without a stone pendant necklace of some sort. My favorite is a moss agate teardrop my husband got me for our first Christmas back when we were still dating. I still get a pendant every Christmas eight years later <3

    I used to take my engagement ring off all the time (and lose it all the time), but now it sits next to my wedding ring, they both stay on permanently!

    I wear my wedding set everyday…. Nope won’t take it off. It’s pretty! Also I try to wear something in my ears. I think wearing earrings can instantly change a look from drab to fab!

    There’s actually nothing I wear everyday with the exception of my wedding band. I even forgo my engagement ring on some days! I guess I like to mix it up!

    I’d say my wedding band, but my pregnant fingers aren’t playing nice! I tend to wear something when I am thinking about the person that got me it!

    I wear the same jewels ALWAYS! I am so boring. I wear my wedding ring, diamond stud earrings & another ring on my right hand. I’d love to add some new items in the mix!

    Oooh Shiny!!!
    I definitely would have sold Manhattan for something with bling! I wear just the perfect pair of gold hoop earrings everyday. They are my absolute favorite, just the right size.

    I love the idea of naming the jewelry after children. Clara might be a bit young to be impressed, but if she were a little older that might make a lasting impression!

    OOOH SHINY! I wear a ring everyday that was given to me by my grandfather for my 16th birthday (gold with a saffire stone surrounded by diamonds)… I wish I could say I wear my engagement ring and wedding band every day but since I’m pregnant it doesn’t fit anymore! Hopefully post pregnancy my fingers will shrink back :)

    OOOH SHINY! I don’t wear anything every day yet, but I know what I will wear after I get engaged/married. My ring will be my grandmother’s ring that her first husband (my grandpa) gave her.

    OOH SHINY! I helped pick out my engagement ring, so it shows off my style and who I am. Among other obvious reasons, it makes me smile every time I look at it!

    I have a ring my mom got me in Ireland which I haven’t taken off for more than a few minutes at a time since 7th grade. I also never go out with my watch – a good luck gift for my first interview in the big city.

    OOOH SHINEY! Since I work as a teacher, the one thing that I never leave the house without is my watch. I like staying on schedule whether it’s getting the children outside on time or getting them their lunch, I need a watch!

    I wear two rings every day (well 3 really)… my wedding & engagement rings and the ring my husband gave me back when we were dating. :)
