Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

The only thing I always wear is a silver ring with a granny knot in my left hand. It was a present from one of my aunts and I can´t remember when she gave it to me, I think it was at least twenty years ago! It is a simple ring but I love it.
I don’t wear my wedding ring everyday because I am afraid to damage it at work.

OOOH SHINY! I feel naked without a pair of earrings in, but without my engagement and wedding bands I can only image that I’d feel completely weirded out. Having chosen both with my husband, the actual proposal was still a surprise – 6 months after purchase! Two years on from that proposal I can’t imagine wearing any other pieces of jewellry on a daily basis.

My grandmother recently gave me a ring that her aunt gave to her. It is a platinum band with 4 diamonds. It was given to my grandmothers aunt by her husband when he returned home from WWII and my grandmother was given strict instructions to never let it leave a female in our family. “OOOH SHINY!” I used to wear a ruby ring (my birthstone). It was my 13th birthday present from my Mom. I wore it until I gave it to my daughter on her 13th birthday even though she is a November baby and it isn’t her birthstone. She liked it then but appreciates it even more since this past July when her son was born on my birthday making it his birthstone. :)

I wear my wedding band every day… My husband and I have matching ones with a tiny fleur-de-lis pattern because he’s from New Orleans and some of my favorite places in the world are France and Italy (Florence). And I almost never take it off. We did a ring-warming ceremony at our wedding with all our friends and family so just having it on makes me feel loved.

I usually wear two rings and a watch. Maybe I´ll change my earings, but not these jewelery.
My grandmother and I found the watch at the beach, and it was mi first watch (I’ll change the straps now and then).
One of the rings was a grandmother´s gift when I turned 18, the age of majority in my country, and it is a simple gold ring with two small red stones; since then I always have wear it, and even more so now that she has died.
The other is my wedding ring, which I love because no one realizes it’s a wedding ring.

Apart from my wedding rings, I wear a plated gold ring that I found, it must have slipped off of someones finger as it already had a sizer on it. I love it but if I ever loose it (it is too big for me too) I know it will be found and treasured.

Oh Shiny! I wear my wedding band and citizens watch everyday. If I walk out the door without them, I have to turn around. I have a charm bracelet that my fiancé gave me for my birthday in April. I haven’t taken it off since.

Ooh shiny! I can’t live without my watch that I got about 10 years ago. I thought I had lost it earlier this year, and I was utterly dismayed. I found it a couple of weeks later between the box spring and mattress – it had been pulled off while I was changing the sheets! It’s happily back on my wrist every day now.

My townhouse was robbed over 10 years ago and alot of my good jewelry was stolen – broke my heart :( But I realized it was all just “stuff” – so now I am a mimimalist and I wear two things every day: my engagement ring/band and a small diamond ring on my right hand that was my mothers. All the rest of my jewelry is costume – and I don’t have much of it anymore.

OOOH SHINY!!! I actually wear a three-band eternity ring i bought myself in college (that was like way too many years ago) for about $6. Perhaps, it’s me holding on to my youth. Since getting married, I also wear every day my wedding band and engagement ring. I never take them off as I’m too scared that I would lose them!! So, they need major cleaning for sure!!
