A nice window is key. I’ve got to be in touch with what’s going on outside– I hated the days when I was in a basement and had no idea if it was raining, snowing, or was dark before I walked out the door!
I don’t do so well in massive open spaces. I’ve got to have some walls to anchor me and give a little privacy. I do like being able to look out ONTO a nice big airy open space, though. I suppose my dream office is on the small side with a nice big window to the outdoors.

I don’t work from an “office” – I am a teacher and have a classroom, but I think I have the best “office” ever. I have the kids that I adore, and plus right outside our window there is a giant green leafy tree that stays pretty leafy all year round. To be honest I’m pretty happy with my office situation. I am a high school teacher and love having my own classroom as my office space. I also have a home office that I’ve carved out as my own space and is filled with all of the things that make me smile but might not make my wife smile so much (toys, artwork, etc) – Hopefully I can keep my office once we have children.
