Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

    MATCH ME !!!

I was “set up” with a friend’s cousin. We went on 2 bore-filled dates and the guy had ZERO personality and asked me to attend his brother’s wedding with him. Clearly I said no and it didn’t work out. He emailed me after saying “he found a really hot date anyways” haha

    MATCH ME!

A friend of mine tried to play matchmaker for me last summer. She set me up with a guy and we went out, made out, and said we’d see each other again. We talked a little bit after the date, but then he stopped calling. A month or two later, he came out and told everybody that he had started hormone therapy to become a woman.

So yeah. I don’t let anybody set me up anymore.

My husband and I were “matched” by a friend. She simply handed each of us the other’s email address (after asking permission, of course) and told us she thought we’d complement each other nicely. We’re coming up on our 2nd wedding anniversary.

She was in a serious relationship with another guy but things worked out, they met and never looked back. They got married a short 4 months later and are each other’s world. Yay for match making!! :)

MATCH ME! Right out of college, I took a job just to start bringing in some income. I was neither fond of my work nor many of my coworkers, who were worse than any quilting circle when it came to gossip and meddling in others’ affairs. These women were very insistent on matching me up with another colleague, in whom I wasn’t at all interested. Their only criteria for making this “perfect” match? “Hollie,” one said, “he reads books!”

I pretty much set up my brother and his wife. I had a college class with her and mentioned several times how alike she and my brother were. The next semester they met in another college class and a couple of weeks later she noticed a picture of me at my parent’s house. They dated for 5 years and married for 2 years.

Match Me-yeah, I totally tried to play matchmaker with two of my good friends who are both hysterical. They both have a really dry sense of humor and I thought-this is perfect! I’ll invite them both to a comedy club with a bunch of other friends-how perfect could that be??!! Well my husband pointed out really fast (after we had all already arrived)-“Hey your girlfriend is 6’2 and our friend that you are trying to set her up with is 5’7. OOPS.

MATCH ME! I’ve never played matchmaker, but I’ve been the matchee several times. I actually had one such date attempt to take the silverware from the restaurant. And in classic style, his credit card was declined at the end of the eyes-glazed-over-boring-monopolized-conversation-ridden meal. And neither of those things is the “best” part, which can’t be detailed on a family-friendly blog.
