Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

    MATCH ME!

Oh geeze, one time in high school, I basically begged a guy to go out with one of my friends. No dice, she was crushed, and I think she kinda felt like I didn’t try hard enough! I vowed to never get involved with another persons love life again!

    MATCH ME!

I played matchmaker last year when my husband and I got married in October. We paired up my best friend (from North Carolina) and his best friend (from New York). They instantly hit it off and are still together 9 months later, although it is a long-distance relationship. They actually were upset with us that we did not set them up earlier. Who knew?!?

    MATCH ME!

My good friend helped play matchmaker with myself and my current boyfriend. We all work together and one day without myself or Bobby (my boyfriend) knowing she put my phone number in his jacket pocket for him to find later. He didn’t want to seem like a creeper, so he actually asked me personally for my number before he ever called. We currently live together with our fur baby, a yellow lab, so it all worked out!

A friend set me up with her husband’s childhood friend. She tricked me into believing I was coming to her house to babysit. Her mom “just happen” to drop by and volunteered to watch the kids. Since I was there already, they insisted I go out w/her and her hubby. We “bumped into” their friend and hung out for the rest of the night. They were all in on it. And that’s how I met my hubby.

I played match maker while interning with a baseball team…..my best friend fell in love, we moved to GA (so she could be closer to him…and I just wanted to go to Atlanta) and then things went downhill unfortunately. But, she stayed in GA and met the man she’s now married too so it wasn’t a total loss! :)

No matchmaking for me, isn’t that what the internet is for? ;) Seriously though, my dad met my stepmom online in the late 90s, and a few years later my sister and her friend had a two-way-dare to try out an online dating site, and they both met their husbands there!

match me!….a looooong time ago I was dumped by a long time boyfriend…my empathetic friend and her mother were so anxious to see me happily involved with someone that they played matchmaker with disastrous results. Her mother was taking classes with a young man who was sooooo nice, and soooo cute. Great personality, fun, funny, good head on his shoulders, AND he looked “just like” Tom Cruise! Who could say no to that date? Well, I got to the restaurant early so I could stash some napkins under my thigh to dry off my sweaty palms when I swooned over my soon to be husband look-alike Tom Cruise!

Well…long story shortened….I cringe just thinking about it. Even my pre date glass of chardonnay couldn’t soften the blow. He was under four feet tall. He did look like Tom Cruise…a pre-pubescent version.
