Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

    MATCH ME!

No, I’ve never played matchmaker and my friends have never tried to match me up. Probably because I come from a small town and we all know the same people, LOL.

I’ve never played matchmaker…but I’ve been so tempted to try and fix my sister up with a good friend’s brother. Matchmaking isn’t really my thing so I’ll probably never follow through.

I have tried to play matchmaker a few times in the past. Most of the time they tried to pull me i the middle of their fights. BUT One of which lasted over 3 years. It was fun at first, but I have to say that I do not plan to do it in the future and I’m not quitting my day job for sure!

    MATCH ME!

I’ve matched a few friends in my day, but none of my matches have led to marriage or lasting committment. I hated being matched awkwardly when I was dating, though, so I try to keep it casual and group-y when I’m hosting! :)

    Match Me!

As far as being a matchmaker, my husband tries to match people all the time. He started trying to match my friends with his friends and that is where I put a stop to it. I could see disaster coming! He has a good record, though. He matched two of his friends who are both married now.

My friend in college showed me a picture of my “perfect guy”…I wasn’t impressed. Apparently he wasn’t either. Months later I was out celebrating my birthday with friends…and who do I meet…that’s right…my “perfect guy”. Well you can’t judge someone based on a picture! We have been together ever since that night. Now we are married (3.5 years) and our baby girl is almost 1. I vote that my friend keep matchmaking.

    MATCH ME!

I actually got two of my friends together when they had both expressed interest and neither of them wanted the other to know. I (after much encouragement) convinced the guy to ask the girl out. They got married last month :) I’ve also been the subject of a few set-ups, but they never really succeeded.

MATCH ME! I had just started a new teaching job in the fall of 2008 and made my first teaching friend, a precious single mom. We were talking one day about her Master’s course work and she mentioned her adviser. I asked if she thought he was cute; she said, he was — he was strong, lived on a big farm, loved animals, rode a motorcycle, was bald, but he didn’t love Jesus (one of her requirements). I told her that I had a friend from Atlanta — very dear to us and had just stood up for us in our wedding — who was bald and strong, a veterinarian, wanted a farm and to ride a motorcycle, plus he loves Jesus. Did she want to meet him? She agreed after some good-hearted needling. He drove from ATL to Raleigh, helped us all chaperone a high school homecoming dance, and a couple months into 2009 he left to serve in the military… with her address. They corresponded the entire time he was gone, were engaged in April of 2010, married that July, and will welcome a little girl in August! My one and only matchmaking attempt!
