Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

    MATCH ME!

I can’t recall ever playing matchmaker for anyone else, other than joking around with some friends that our kids might grow up and marry each other.

I did play match maker, but not intentionally. I was planning on setting up my friend Rae with my friend Ron. I just happened to invite my friend Jeff to the bar too and Rae and Jeff completely hit it off. They were married two years later and are still happily married!!!

    Match Me!

You know, I don’t know why, even in a totally random game of chance, I usually see the 1500 mark with comments and think to myself “Self, this is not looking good.” I mean…totally random, why wouldn’t #1678 be as likely win as say # 102 eh?

I HAVE played matchmaker. And most of those folks are now divorced. BUT!! They got married so that should say something right? I may or may not have been matched up myself. With some dude. That I’ve been married to going on 3 years now. After we put up with each other for 3 years before that. Maybe…

LOVED the matches that came back for the Clara piece. That whole set was a gallery of fun all in and of itself.

I met my husband because of a matchmaker. But it’s not what you think! One of my friends set me up with a co-worker of hers. We only went on one date and it didn’t work out, but I became friends with him. I met his roommate soon after that and we got married about a year later!

Someone else tried to play on me. And I just celebrated my 1st anniversary with the guy, so I’d say it worked. =)

My father-in-law was my mentor in college and always wanted me to date one of his sons. When I finally started dating his eldest son we kept it a secret until we knew it was forever. Three boys, a minivan and ten years later we’re still in love. I guess father know best.

Match Me! My best friend tried to play matchmaker once. It was a complete disaster. An epic fail. Let’s just say that there was only one date…because he was thrown in jail the next weekend for fighting at a wedding (over a 13 year old girl!), had both hands broken in the fight and when he got out had to move in with his mom because he couldn’t even zip his own pants! NICE! Needless to say, that was the first and only time she tried to play matchmaker for me!!

MATCH ME!!! I tried once to set up a girl friend of mine with one of my hubbys old friends…not good! We decided to go to a haunted house…the guy was late to our house, we got a flat on the way to the haunted house, and the guy drank all night because he was “nervous”!! I’ll never try that again:)

Match me! I’ve like to consider myself a matchmaker for 2 couples I know. One couple has been married for 6 years. (I met him first, and then we all became friends, and later they got together). The other couple, I got my friend a job at my previous employer. She then met her boyfriend (who just happens to be my husband’s boss). Needless to say the 2nd one is a little weird sometimes!
