Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

I sort of got to play match maker once! I told a good friend of mine that she should date this guy I know, and it turned out she already liked him and my message to her helped give her more courage to pursue him!! They ended up dating and just got married in May!! Hooray!

I’ve never been matched or done the matching, but I think it could be good if you really know the two people well and they have lots in common.

    MATCH ME!

I’ve never intentionally played matchmaker, but my best friend did reconnect with one of our old college buddies at our wedding and, even though they’d known each other for years and never considered dating, they danced together at our wedding and started dating shortly thereafter. Now they’re married with two kids — and sure, I’ll take all the credit! Ha.

I was set up on a blind date once. He called and asked “do you know who I am”…as in a friend of a friend of mine who had made the match. What a line I guess? Nine years married and two kiddos later, its a match made in heaven.

“MATCH ME!” I’m the accidental matchmaker.
Once, I took a dear friend to another friends new year’s eve party. She met a roommate (who I did not know)and 18 years later they’re still a happy couple.

Two weeks ago, I learned that good friends (former housemate and his wife) blame me for getting back together on their second attempt. I delivered housemate to airport at start of a major east cost storm. They were meeting in HI (one from BOS, one from PIT). BOS made it on time, no problems. PIT changed planes in ATL, CIN, DAL, LAX. On one of those legs there was an attempt to touch down in FL, but that was aborted. I was the link between both for more than 24 hours since this was the era of the expensive brick size cell phones. Wife knew the adventure and was waiting at airport with beer which sealed the deal for housemate.
