Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

    MATCH ME!

I once twirled (a.k.a shoved) my friend into a dude while we were out dancing. She missed him though and accidentally bumped into his friend instead. 2 years later they were married. (Turns about the original dude is a huge jerk so I’m glad I had bad aim.)

I’ve never tried matchmaking anyone, but I was nearly set up with a friend’s friend once. After meeting the guy and talking about how strange he was, my friend changed her mind about trying to set us up:)

MATCH ME!!!! At their 10-year high school reunion, two friends of mine from high school had a conversation about how this fellow classmate from high school and I would be a perfect couple. They never mentioned it to me (or to her) until a year later when we met by chance and started dating. Now we’re married, and they credit themselves with putting the idea into the universe and making it happen! :)

MATCH ME! Love at first byte! I met my husband Graham through a computer of all things. Match.com to be exact – who would have known? We emailed with each other for about a month and had our first ‘meeting’ at a restaurant in Irving, TX on February 11, 2005. Our first official date was two weeks after our meeting, Feb. 26 and lasted ten hours. The best date ever! And I like ot admit we are the perfect match.

I learned to avoid matchmaking by watching my mother try with friends and coworkers (although thank GOD never her children) and having a number of those pairings go down in flames. I’ll stick to blind luck, thankyouverymuch.

    MATCH ME!

I got set up on a blind date by one of my mom’s friends once. It was awful. By the end of dinner he had already asked me how many children I wanted and how I planned on disciplining them. What?! Thankfully I was heading back to college several states away in a couple weeks. Don’t worry, though, I had a card (with hearts on it) waiting for me when I arrived at the dorm. Somehow he got my college address. (Darn you mom!) He apologized for “probably freaking me out.” Ya think?! Needless to say, that was the last time I agreed to any kind of blind date.

I played matchmaker with a guy I dated for a few weeks and an old friend. I knew they would work well together and they have now been together 5 years and are engaged! I became a little over confident in my matchmaking abilities and started matchmaking everyone. I should have just stuck with the success I had with the first match, because no one else worked out. whoops!
