Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

The husband and I are currently trying to play match maker with my BFF and a good friend of ours. I have been on a blind set up date before, and it was laughable :)

I’ve thought about playing matchmaker many times, but I don’t think I’ve ever done it. I’ve only ever been “set up” on one date, and it was terrible.

MATCH ME!!! I once tried to match my best friend up with my now husband – I was dating someone else (I had never dated my husband before) and I wanted her to have someone too! I thought he was a good catch then, and I still think so :)

Trying out the matchmaker for sure…we are decorating a nursery for our first baby. This would come in handy for ideas to matching bedding. And the gift certififcate would be useful to help fund the art work :)

MATCH ME! I fail at matchmaking. I tend to try to match people up because I think it would be nice if so-and-so and some other so-and-so got together because they are both friends of ours. Never mind thinking if they are even compatible, or each others’ types. Whoopsie. And I refuse to give up on it either. :)

Match Me! I do not ever play matchmaker, in fact I seem to doom most couples, because I’ll tell my husband in private – that seems like a strange couple – and usually a month later they are no longer together!

I’m definitely not a matchmaker, but I have an acquaintance who indirectly set me up with my boyfriend. She added him on facebook, and he then added me because he “thought I was cute.” When she saw us together a month or so later, she was thrilled to have worked some friendship magic.

MATCH ME! I have played matchmaker before. I am a labor and delivery nurse and I hooked one of my fellow co-workers up with my brother. I figured they would go out and have fun, but wasn’t sure what would come of it. After the first date it was a match made in heaven. They were wed last year on 10-10-10. I have the best of both worlds now, I approve of my sister-in-law because I hand picked her, and she adores my brother!

The furthest I ever played matchmaker was inviting 2 of my friends I know out with me to see if they hit it off. I felt like it was safe for me b/c if they didn’t, no big deal b/c they didn’t know I was trying to set them up…ps: it didn’t work out:)
